Yeah, I know it's a long way out, but I want a better showing than last year so people need to know about it!

There are two locations that I'm thinking of.  The normal spot in Frederick, MD where we've generally always played or my hometown of Warrenton, VA.  Frederick is very nice, big gaming area, nice manager and we can definitely reserve some room there.  The problem with that is that it's about an hour drive for me, and if I'm organizing this little shindigary, then it may be best for me to have something near my home base for transportation purposes and contacts for food and lodging.  My local store looks pretty good though, as it's an open environment with plenty of space and tables as well, and the staff is friendly from my encounters with them thus far.

I'm looking at a time in July for this, so though it is way out, everyone is invited so come on down (or up, or east...or west)!

Probably only a slim & distant chance for me, but 5.5 (Frederick) to 6.5 (Warrenton) hours doesn't too seem bad.

If it was closer to Richmond/Norfolk/Newport News I could have proposed it as a joint venture, with my girlfriend visiting friends back home while I play WFB. Maybe I could still get her to drop me off on her way and pick me up on the way back home...

wissenlander

Richmond's only 2 hours away from Warrenton. :engel:

Crankiebrell

could always hold it at the GW HQ in Glen Burnie! more than enough tables

wissenlander

That wouldn't be a bad idea, but it's about an hour and a half away from where I live, and if I'm going to be hosting it I think it makes more sense for me to be familiar with the area, especially if we've got some folks coming from out of town.

The location isn't set in stone yet, but it will depend on if we've got people who can stay for a weekend of gaming and what all is done.  If it's just a few hours of gaming with a handful of people then we can do it, but if it's going to be as big as the Eurobash from last year (which is what I hope happens) it'll be impossible for me to host that so far away.

Still, if anyone has ideas or has interest let me know.

I am once again interested. Have it in Richmond and it's almost a sure fire bet  :-P.

Infact, it might this time be possible to have 4 of us coming assuming finances are fairly intact by then!

It's pliable at the moment.  Depending upon the interest will depend on many factors.  I will hammer out some more details after the new year.  It will at least be a full day of gaming, though.

Could it be a two-day thing, Wiss, if there was enough interest?
Let them taste Reikland steel!

wissenlander

Definitely.  That would be ideal, honestly.  If we're going to get together, it might as well be for as big of a bash as possible.  Not only that but it's a little more justified than just a couple of hours worth.

Plus, for anyone who's looking for a vacation, this will be in the D.C. metro area.  Lots of Civil War battlegrounds as well as museums and monuments in D.C. itself.

Hey! Don't be making fun of soth's wife cooking! We don't want to upset her! After all, we still need catering for the 09 eurobash ;)

Historicon 2009 is scheduled for July 16 to 19, and I'm giving consideration to going.  If your event is on the same weekend, I might show up for a game or two.  Historicon is usually in Lancaster, PA, but if I am there on the 16th or 17th or both, I might drive down to the MAEB for the 18th.  It is a long ways off for finalizing this, but since I'd be coming from New England, I'm not sure Frederick or Warrenton makes much difference to me.

This reminds me ... need to start giving consideration to having a New England Empire Bash again.  Last year's had two of us, with another four playing Mordheim, so I'd sure like to plan it well enough in advance so as to perhaps get at least a few more folks this year.
