I find book cover art, but the artist obviously hasn't read the book, just fascinating.

For example, below are book cover art for Black Colossus by Robert E Howard but these scenes never happen in the book and there are no man-apes, harpies or great apes in it.







Like where did they get this stuff? *insert generic judge a book by its cover title joke*

The book is about 2 armies fighting and the bad guy is an evil sorcerer.

I am sure there are other examples, but this is just a recent one I've come across.
