Baseless Speculation: Armies of Infamy for the Empire?

(1/23) > >>

Clymer:
Any guesses or rumors about what the Empire armies of infamy might be?

I have only two notions to guide my thinking based on previously released armies of infamy, 1) They will be something new, not rehashes of army ideas that already exist, so unlikely we would see a Nuln or crusader army and 2) They will want to feature previously underutilized models and models that they'll be reproducing.

Based on that, here's some ideas that I brainstormed as possibilities, but who knows, really?

Armored Spearhead: Let's you take extra steam tanks and war wagons

Honor of the Griffon: Lots of ways to take demigryphs and griffons

Tide of Infantry: Yeah, I know I said I don't think we'll have an army based on previous ideas, but an all infantry army (TVI, for example) was always a player driven thing, not a GW driven thing. Maybe they'll do a truly infantry focused army?

Any other ideas or rumors?

Tiberius:
I think something ulric is very likely, they already have some of those old models for the Teutogen Guard.  I’ll be surprised if they don’t actually. Which is a bummer because I have zero interest in it.

Maybe they will also do something more cult of sigmar focused also to balance it with Ulric, but I don’t think that’s as likely.

Marienburg possibly to have three different flavors for the 3 emperors?

Skyros:
I think a Nuln detachment seems likely. I also think it's the least needed, since empire gunline is already one of the best ways to play the list.

Most other armies with an arcane journal have gotten a 'cavalry army'. Also not needed, since a demigryph/knight heavy empire army is already one of the best ways to play the list.

What badly, desperately needs help, is our state troop contingent.

My hope is for a Middenheim army which, similar to the Middenheim army in storms of chaos, gives up the detachment rule in exchange for cheaper state troops who are also better fighters. That would be great, as empire troops are way overcosted and the detachment rule is worth zero points.

This would be a 'lower tech' list no steam tanks, or hellblasters, but instead you get the warwagon and maybe a priest of Ulric and a better war altar.

Clymer:
Cool ideas... What would a Marienburg army look like? Greatsword focused?

Clymer:
I'd like to see an army where infantry gets some boosts, like cheap or free access to drilled, or frankly, just costs less.
