The issue of infantry and diving into the numbers
Grudgie:
Honestly, I like how infantry behaves more or less. The only thing they need is a drastic points reduction. A block of state troops by itself is basically slow moving chaf, so price it as such. A halberdier should be 3 points.
Sir Falo:
After I have tried Drilled veterans I do think infantry can work fine. They should still get a buff tho. Atleast -1 pts on all State troops and get horde.
Jörgen Andreasson:
Our current house rule is that any unit may only perform ONE supporting attack from each side of an engaged enemy unit not in base to base per each rank bonus they will recieve in the current combat.
Regarding detachemnt... the detachment rule is for supporting charge is not even remotely a normal charge. You don't really declera the charge the way you do it normally. You just declere the intention that you will make a "Support Charge", this is not an actual normal charge. At the end of the Charge move subphase you simply do your charge move as you would in any charge. If you engage in the flank or front would be gaged when you do the move.
Interpreting it in any other way it just reading stuff into the text that is not there. It also is how it always worked in previous editions and is the in the spirit of the intention of the mechanics. It also is what they wrote.
Looking at other factions infantry I also think Empire State troop either need shieldwall or they need to be one point less... right now they just are a bit too expensive. Not useless, but too expensive to be competetive with most other infantry choises. At least spearmen should bet shieldwall if they choose shields.
