Perry miniatures
« on: February 13, 2009, 08:01:54 PM »
So I stated reading Mogsam's I- Guard post, and thought of this question, but thought that it would be better to start it as a thread rather than disrupt his thread...

Can you use perry miniatures at GW events?

Not as far as I know. They are not GW figures.

They just happen to be sculpted by a couple of guys who also sculpt for GW.

I almost started a Dogs of War army with their excellent models. Specifically the Samurai range. Pikemen, arqubesiers(sp?) (as crossbowmen), joy!

I really like their first crusade range. And the late hundred years war range. And the American revolution range.  :icon_biggrin:

Almost everything they sculpt is a joy. I was also interested in their English Civil War models for Empire, but damn me if Warlord games hasn't stolen that place in my heart.

Danny, I might be shooting myself in the foot, because they are hard to find in stock, but the perrys just released ACW 28mm Cavalry, they look really nice and will be very easy to convert into empire and kislev, I am still waiting on mine to arrive. Oh yes the price is unbelievably low, 12 mounted figs for 20 bucks. steveb

Yes.

(They can be either.)

As far as 5th ed. Perry Empire figures, have you checked out the landsknechts they sculpted for Foundry?

Perry Miniatures are ridicolously fast at processing orders, I got mine within 4 days of ordering by cheque.

I wish it were possible to get those from someone other than Foundry.

Foundry suck.

Are these metal or plastic?  Are you obtaining these direct from Perry?

Foundry charge too much for postage, and they keep raising prices and decreasing pack size. Plus they never make any new models.

Perry miniatures are really great though!

In US prices, Foundry are normally around twice as much as most of their competitors ($4 per figure for infantry), and 4x or more than the cheap brands (like the new plastics, or Old Glory.) Actually, with the current exchange rate and some of the deals offered by certain manufacturers, I can get figures of comparable quality (including some by ex-Foundry sculptors) for $1 +/- per figure.

Sadly, not many companies offer landsknechts, and the Foundry figures are very nice looking Perry sculpts. Old Glory, Redoubt and Essex also have landsknechts. The Old Glory are decent, I've posted pics in the gallery before. The Essex are questionable, if I remember correctly. I've never seen the Redoubt figures in person, so can't really comment.

They are plastic, options of type of hat to put on, I will probably use empire hats. choice of carbine or sabre, I will probably use empire weapons and pistols. A little green stuff for fur and puffy sleeves and what not and I think I will be all set.
The reason for the lateness is my own stupidity.  I made a big order that included a couple of preorders/advance orders and the whole order is held until all items have arrived and will be shipped together.  I knew this in advance but I had hoped for quick release and I really wanted the volume discount and combined shipping, so what can I say I did it to myself.
Some asked about where? I have seen them on web at FRP Games and at the Warstore, both are very good web stores to buy from and they usually have a discount on most items (20% on our favorite brand, tournament wise that is)
If nothing else the heads of the figures and the horses will add variety to the army.  steveb
