What the hell, special and heavy weapons sold separately?????

Who wants a box of 60 special weapons???

I assume we'll see a lot of bitz on eBay.

I did notice that with all the marines in the starter, I didn't see a lot that could deal with either the dreadnought or tank, aside from a plasma pistol here and there.

There doesn't seem to be any special guide for getting started either, so no scenarios. So it looks like this is just a box full of figures. I can't stand that. Its so lazy.

Also see that in order to play the champions from Prospero, you have to buy the corresponding tome. The rulebook in the starter looks huge, why not put some info on these models in there?!? God I hate what this hobby has become.

This is a hard pass now. Easy hard pass.

I did a double take too.  Whatever happened to the days when the weapons were sold on the same sprues that the figures were sold on?

I guess its their formula to sell more crap. Honestly, if they included less models and added enough special and heavy weapons then I would say this looks like a nice set. But after dropping $300 on the starter, then you have to go out and buy a bunch of weapons to make the armies included in the set playable?

Total cash grab.

Its amazing how many products GW puts out that I have no interest in buying. It wasn't always that way.

I hadn't seen the price tag yet.  Is it really $300?  Yowza.

Thats what I heard in a youtube vid.

BTW I was just taking a look at this:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/mouvfePNquxVdprP.pdf

And as mentioned, the lists look just like... 7th edition. Makes sense since the set includes templates. I thought those rules were unpopular. Why would they go backwards rather than more like what they are doing with 9th?

If I recall, it's been using 7th edition similar rules for awhile, although I might be mistaken.

I watched a couple of vids on YouTube going through the rulebook and another of a game.

I looks like 40K is borrowing Infinity concepts with the reaction thing, which is fine.

The main rulebook doesnít even cover units of any kind. Stats and points are provided in the getting started section of the instruction book. I figured this was coming but still weak when I see it.

So this means a codex each for each legion? Or at least 2 cover the loyal and traitors?

The getting started just covers whatís in the box, so no points or anything if you want to add a meltagun or missile launcher to your tactical squad.

So watching the demo game, which was well done as far as having everything painted with lots of nice scenery, turned into a mob fight in the middle of the board. Just stupid. And I know all 40K games can be different but I just see too much of this. What is the point of a 6x4 table loaded with nice terrain if everything is just going to end up in the center? Maybe it was the scenario they were playing I donít remember the details. I just remember it being really unsatisfying to watch. Also, the models are near Primaris in size, so bigger figures taking up more space on the board.

Also, I didnít see the tactical squads being split up into combat squads. Maybe theyíll have rules for that, I donít know. Maybe the nature of the Heresy will just involve these hordes of units.

I just donít like this starter set. I know of comes with a lot of figures but it seems limited with what you can do with them unless you buy a whole bunch of other stuff. Even the marines donít have many options against the tank and Dreadnought unless someone runs up and punches it with a powerfist. Great.

I think the Heresy can be something interesting a dedicated gaming group can dive into, but I am not sure this going to be a rewarding experience for the casual gamer. There just seems too much to buy. And maybe that is the point of this game too.

Times are changing, and GW with it, and I am becoming more and more disinterested with their newer products than ever before. Me changing could def be a reason too, but GW isnít pulling me back either. If anything itís just pushing me away.

Any idea what those floating flower like things are? I thought they might be drop pods on their side but I dont think that is the case.

Group shot of the models towards the bottom if you dont see the image.

Just got a coupon from an eBay seller for the new Horus Heresy set for $250, and if I were excited about this set I would buy two for that price, but so much about this game annoys me.

I like the figures.  Was hoping for another $200 price tag.  Guess not.

Watched this video of Horus Heresy game play ...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdZ4zc8OQuE

... seems relatively easy to play, at least at this level for numbers of figures.
