POLL: How Many Different Fantasy Battle Miniature Games Have You Played?

(1/3) > >>

GamesPoet:
This "poll" was an idea from Zygmund, thank you! :icon_cool:

And the main question is ...

How Many Different Fantasy Battle Miniature Games Have You Played?

And to be clear, this is not referring to the number of Warhammer Fantasy Battle editions you've played, because there's a "poll" here for that already.  Nor is it suppose to include the number of editions of other fantasy battle games that may have been played.  So feel free to count Warhammer Fantasy Battle or other fantasy battle game systems as one each in your count.

Games by GW like Man O'War, Mordheim, and Warbands ... those can count as separate fantasy battle games.  And this may be an issue for some, although feel free to count W:AoS as a separate system if you'd like or not.

Of course there are others, although not limited to the following ... 9th Age, Kings Of War, Frostgrave, Dragon Rampant, Blood Bowl, Lord of the Rings Battle Game, Warmachine, Songs of Blades and Heros, Mage Knight, Malifaux, Warlords of Erehwon, etc.

... And two more questions ...

1.  Which fantasy miniature battle game systems have you played?

2.  Which fantasy miniature battle game systems have you enjoyed and why?

Also, this poll will remain open so that folks can come back and change their number as they play new games along the way.

I'm interested in adding other names of fantasy battle systems to the list above, and feel free to ask questions, too.

GamesPoet:
1.  So far I have played only 3 ... WFB, Man O'War, and Warbands.

2.  I've enjoyed playing all three of those, and this is mostly likely because of the fluff and the figures.

I'm looking forward to making up a Dragon Rampant army at some point and giving a go to those rules, which because I've played Lion Rampant, there is already familiarity with the system.  However, I haven't counted Lion Rampant, although I do use it for fantasy games.

Michael W:
1.  Well, I hit 4 for the poll...but in typing this out I realized it's at least 5 - WHFB, Mordheim, Wyrdwars, GW's Lord of the Rings system, and Frostgrave.  I'm betting I've played a few more but can't think of them offhand.

2.  I love LotR for take-your-time battles, particularly siege attacks, where a few key soldiers can make the difference on the ramparts.  Mordheim is a lot of fun with the right group.  And WHFB does small field battles very nicely.

I would like to find/work out a 15mm (or maybe 10mm?) fantasy system at some point, just to do really major battles.  I haven't tried Warmaster and don't have the minis for it, but there are plenty of 15mm suppliers out there, and those armies are much cheaper than building another Warhammer one.  =)

Immediately below the "poll" area there is a "Remove Vote" button that if you click it, then you can change your pick from 4 to 5.

Gankom:
I haven't voted yet because Im considering how I want to answer. Technically speaking I've played a lot. The local game club has a 'one shot Sundays' where they play a different game every week and I often join in. But the thing is I don't usually play more then one game. So technically I've played like dozens of different games, but only once. Things I've actually played more then once are much smaller.
Frostgrave
warhammer
Age of Sigmar
Mordheim
Lord of the Rings
War Machine
Dragon Ramptant (5 games, but pretty casual)
Man o War

So 8 so far that's actually been played a bunch.
