Good grief, give her some time! Six days between posts is not exactly taradive...

No grief here, just silliness.  One of those things that isn't always easy to convey across the interwebs. :icon_wink: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_lol:

I was only being punctilious...

For those of you who thought I had given up: Nope!  :-D

I just didn't have a lot of free time and thus postponed posting pics. I'll try to catch up now:

Day 23/100:

Aragorn - five o'clock shadow, bow and belt

Day 24/100:

Boromir - hair and shield (pics below)

Day 25/100:

Decided to do a few test swords before painting Andúril and primed them:

Day 26/100:

Boromir - skin and gloves (pics below)

Day 27/100:

Boromir again - metal parts, first layer

Day 28-31/100:

Test sword 1 - True metallic metal (TMM)

Test sword 2 - TMM and brown

Test sword 3 - NMM brown

Test sword 4 - NMM green

So difficult to take a useful pic with my smartphone camera, even with a light box
In reality, they look much better.
Anyway, I painted several test swords.  :-P

Day 32/100:

Boromir again - another layer of red and black

Thank you!

I finally managed to take a better pic of my test swords:

And here are day 33/100 ...

NMM, one side of Andúril

... and day 34/100:

NMM, one side of Boromir's sword.

I'm sure there's a better way to do it, but don't think you can figure that out without trying multiple times. How do you like it so far and what would you try to improve?

It's exciting and encouraging to witness the start of your journey with NMM!

I think Boromir's sword is quite good already, especially when you remember how small the LotR characters are. From a foot or two away, that sword is pretty nice. Way better than your practice blades. There's a lot of progress here already.

I have never tried NMM, so can't say where to go from here. Probably following the advice in the pro links, and just repetition, finer blends and sharper edge highlights.

Had a quick look at a friend’s April’s White Dwarf issue no 463 today -  I’m surprised no-one here has mentioned that there was an article on NMM swords in it. Never tried it myself, so can’t give any practical help.

Thank you all for commenting!

Here's what I got done in the last few days:

Day 35/100:

Aragorn's cloak is realistically dirty now.  :-D Started painting Boromir's gloves and the horn of Gondor.

Day 36/100:

More work on Boromir's gloves.

Day 37/100:

NMM on the front of Boromir's sword (gray scale).

Day 38/100:

Aragorn's sword (front, NMM, base colour green).

Day 39/100:

Edge highlights, Aragorn's sword.

Day 40/100:

Corrected the base edge, added matt varnish and grass (Aragorn). He's complete now!

Day 41/100:

Took and uploaded pics.

Day 42/100:

The horn of Gondor - metal parts.

Day 43/100:

Took and uploaded more miniature pics. Updated my instagram account with Aragorn pics as he is complete now.
