Title: Interesting Painting Videos ...
Post by: GamesPoet on March 11, 2021, 06:36:12 PM
Came across this video while having lunch today ...

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0nqofvkFdQ

... it was interesting to even see how he is doing the painting and highlights, besides using the idea of the "mother" color.

Disclaimer:  the guy is a bit wacky at times, although it's worth watching anyway. :icon_wink:

So are we all, so what's your point? :D

I will watch this later, wondering what's up.

That's a very good instruction video!

Ninjon is one of the least wackiest miniature painting youtubers. And very good at showing and explaining what he does.

In another video over at the Trapped Under Plastic (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtZEJfdpBoQSuWccVyfvO4g), he explained he made the mother colour video in a hurry, and was somewhat stressed about the model and his idea for painting it. Can't remember which episode now.

So far that's the only video of his I've watched.  Will see what else might pop up along the way.  I liked his explanations.

Changed the tread title to a broader topic and to include more videos as they come along.

At dinner watched this one ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fJBi-CzjW0

There is no way I'd paint a bunch of Word Bearers this way, although to give a go at a key figure or model, that is something I might try out at some point.  As so many painting attempts can go, it really comes together towards the end.  Definitely learned some things here, and suspect viewing it a second time will help as well.

With so many figures to paint, what I really need are quick paint jobs that'll do the trick to paint the majority of figures in an army, yet seeing something like this, and eventually giving a go at it, seems really cool.

Here is a "how to paint" WW2 D-Day Paratroopers ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmWxZdC4l0E

It also provides some interesting information along the way while the painting style is provided, and I enjoyed seeing some of the different techniques used in a simple manner for this video.

Okay, I finally took some time to watch this. I wish I had the knowledge of colour theory that this guy has. He makes it seem so easy. But, like with Magic: the Gathering, I am at a place where improving would take far too much effort to improve even marginally.

There are often basic ways shown in various videos that folks can pick up small things that can even slightly improve folks painting.

Of course it does take desire, time, and practice. :icon_cool:

Duncan "Two Thin Coats" Rhodes did an excellent video on 6 common painting mistakes and how to fix them. I thought it was a great watch.

I'll take a look!

Also, here is a video with a seemingly straight forward way of painting camo on a vehicle ...

Yep, I enjoyed seeing that camo painting video.  It seems that it can be translated into whatever colors of camo that someone wants to use.

And here's a video where the Cadian camo colors are painted on to a vehicle, and it shows what seems to be a relatively simple way to do a camo pattern as well ...

Watched this at lunch today ... not sure I'd do Tau in this color, but I enjoyed the process he uses to do these figures ...

I've been itching to get a air brush for awhile now, maybe it is time to seriously look into that.

Enjoyed seeing the painting techniques used to paint this Tau fire warrior ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIOeq1uQ3uI

Suspect how the environmental and the chipping are painted could translate into other things as well. :icon_cool:
