When you come within 24in of a dark elf unit with an assassin and he is reveled can you shoot him with a long rifle? :dry:

There has recently been a massive discussion about his on this forum... I cant remember how long ago now.

But the answer was not in the Empires favour ie the assassin is revealed and the HLR can shoot at it... altho I disagreed with this *hides*

Well, you get to know about all magical banners, the magic items characters carry etc... within 24". Not game winning, but still handy information.

The larger the battle, the more valuable it would be.  At <2k, most likely not worth the arcane choice.  At <3k, I still would hesitate but at >=3k I would definitely bring it.

It's biggest bonus (although gamey) is that you get to see how far away different units are before you use all your guess range artillery...  :unsure:

I was about to point out they are both arcane and so limited to one per character then ....  drunk = slow un uptake.

I do sometimes get the image of a wizard running wildly into the middle of a battle after somebody loaded his crystal ball into a cannon by mistake
