Ostermark Army Progress
« on: September 18, 2024, 07:20:37 AM »
Hello boys,

The subject thread has been created as a means of monitoring the progression of my painting and modelling. I have made similar attempts twice in the past but I failed to follow up.

Now I want to give it a go once more in an attempt to motivate and inspire myself. So this is mainly for myself but if others see something interesting, feel free to comment and discuss though a post or PM.

As an introduction I would like to say some things about myself.

36 years old, in the tabletop wargaming hobby since 15. So more than 20 years.

Started playing WHFB with Empire. Moved to Vampires, Dwarfs and Warriors of Chaos.

When GW hit the delete button, I sold everything and switched to historical gaming but didn't quite find a ruleset that I liked.

Anyway long story short, I will be focusing on an Ostermark Imperial Army I have been planning for 6 months.

I will also be posting some background and lore pieces I have in mind, if I find the inspiration to write them down.

In the coming days I will be posting the first picture/pictures as I complete units. I will try to have a weekly update on whats going on.....

By the grace of Sigmar and in the Emperor's name I vow that this mess of an idea I have in my mind will make it into a worthy fighting force and once war calls, they will be there.

PS: I have also gone back to an early blog I had, which will be updated concurrently with this one: https://miniaturesanctuary.wordpress.com/

Hey there!

It’s great to see you diving back into your painting and modeling journey! The Ostermark Imperial Army sounds like an exciting project, and I’m sure your background in WHFB will bring a lot of depth to it.

I love that you’re also planning to share some lore and background pieces—those personal touches can really enhance the whole experience. It’s awesome that you’ve got a blog to accompany your updates too; I’ll definitely check that out.

Looking forward to seeing your first pictures and hearing about your progress! Best of luck, and may Sigmar guide your brush!

It is a sad state of affairs when a fellow northern province utters the name of Sigmar, but forget about Ulric. Besides that, I will gladly see some proper Ostermarkers :smile2:

Thank you guys!

Its nice to be back.

This is the first unit I managed to semi complete.

30 halberds and will soon be expanded to 35 strong. I must also add that the army is purely 3d printed by myself.

Also some Greatswords in the works.

Finally, some Death's Heads Ive started working on.

Time is a bit limited these days but I will do my best to keep up.  :icon_lol:

Welcome back to the hobby!

I'm also 36, and also started playing in the early 2000s, (2001 I think).  I've wandered and come back to the hobby many times, but it is always good to be back.

Your troops look great!  Whatever you are doing gives them a really nice smooth texture.  The Maroon and yellow you have chosen pair nicely.

I'm experimenting with some Highland miniatures also, but so far I can always see the grain too well to be totally satisfied.

Looking forward to seeing more!
