90% WIP

Much more colours than I would ever usually attempt , complete gamble really ..

I'm starting to love NMM, it's easy once you understand the basic premises

I chopped off the sword and re positioned it , so that in photos you would see the blade , rather than it being a flat cross section,

you can check other peoples Kurts on CMON , who didn't re position the blade.

The NMM looks great as far as I can tell!  Can you explain your thought process behind all the bright contrasting colors?  Makes the model look like a bag of skittles to me, regardless of how well it's painted (the Green on his helmet and the purple cloak look swank, I don't know about the yellow).

Cheers

Peyton

my only  nit pic with thepaint job ( plese note its better than what i could ever do ) is the tail of the horse is  simliar to the gold on the barding and the greys used on the armour are similar to the fur lining of the of the cloak this could just be the photo

I like your stab at it.  I would have painted the horse white or black so the barding would stand out better,  since the horse is a similar color it looks like it and the barding are one.    I think some of the golds need more reflective contrasting darks to give the appearance of metal.

''I like your stab at it.  I would have painted the horse white or black so the barding would stand out better,  ''

i just mocked up a white and black horse by using a brush tool,

the black looks off, but your right, the white makes the model better,

i'll implement this soon and re post!

Disclaimer: I am not usually a fan of NMM, and I usually avoid giving feedback about a paint job I will never have the skill to pull off myself.  However, my take on it:

Positives:

The sword and armour of the knight look great.  The sword in particular looks awesome to me.  Actually, the more I look at it I think the silver armor looks just as good.  Wish I could do that!

The non metal stuff really pops, in a good way.  The purple, green, and red are all smooth and highlighted well.

Hopefully Constructive Criticisms:

The green is highlighted with too much white.  It looks fine on its own, but the red and purple are not highlighted to the same degree and next to each other it looks off.  I would have used more yellow than white when brightening up the green, or maybe just not highlighted it quite as much, unless you take the red and purple to the same stage.  I hope that made sense.

The red and gold armor of the horse needs a little work.  It just looks like red and yellow to me, rather than NMM.  The similarity of the horses tail to the gold armor illustrates this I think.  Most NMM jobs I have seen are done by painting the armor with the light highlighting it from a certain angle, just like you did with the sword.  It looks like you highlighted the gold and red armor all over, which makes it look just like anything else painted yellow or red.

Finally, I really don't know about the colors.  Everything on its own looks great, but it's hard to keep your eye on any part of the model for long.

There is much to look at and to admire. The red barding looks really great, just to mention something.

Congratulations to your 100th page Sir!

The armour looks very good! So I can't really figure why you have painted the sword in blues rather than silver...
Also the gold need more highlight of something almost white, as well as some dark brown shading.

To be perfectly honest, I love it. I really like the color range used, and it looks like a rich nobleman should in my opinion.
