I like it alot. Sometimes, when i see awesome color combinations like this, i get sad that i chose to paint mine as Nulners. Then i think of the Nuln fluff and im happy again :)

Great job! :::cheers:::

I hope you guys appreciate the old school model!

it's tough getting the armour right on these old models, as the sculpts are quite messy, with bumpy bits and flash a plenty etc

I worked in about 10 layers of washes.

Enjoyed seeing that sword unit a bit back.  Thanks for the work in progress shots of the crossbowmen.  Really like the pegasus paint job!

And that single figure above is very well done.

(Wondering if we are seeing more of the blue and white because of the Middenland themed W-E campaign planned for this year.)

He looks outstanding mr chumley warner! I love how his armor came out. It's hard to judge by the picture but for some reason I imagine that these older OOP metal figs (pre perry brothers) are somewhat smaller in size compared to later models, are they?

Dear Mr. chumley,
You've absolutely inspired me with your army. I went through all 15 pages of this thread with my jaw hanging open. Truly incredible work!

I'm only just starting my Empire force and its color-scheme is almost identical to the yellow/blue combination of your Handgunner unit, steamtank, and Captsus. I would love to know how you achieved these wonderful blues and yellows. I notice that you use washes extensively and its something i've still not quite got the hang of yet, so some extra detail or advice about using them to get those colors would be amazing.

Thanks so much for sharing your work!

cool, for the Blue,

Start with Regal Blue, then highlight with shades of enchanted blue, wash with blue wash and babab mixed, then blend in between down to chaos black in the recesses.

Highlight up to white on the raised edges.

Enchanted Blue is the key , it seems to work very well in it's own right without much work.

My armour technique is learned over time experimenting , i use white spray undercoat, and base with boltgun + vermin brown 60/40 mix, then wash with babac , then a layer of red wash, then gryphon, then devlan mud, then a blue wash in the recesses , highlighting with a watered down mithril and up to very thin white lining .

A good trick for the yellow is to start with a washed down layer of snakebite leather as the base on top of white,

then shade upwards after washing with gyrphon

They are smaller actually , by 2-3 mm IMO

I have assembled a team of 14 idiots , with me being the chief idiot!

We travel to Tenerife tomorrow for a 5 day Stag do, before my wedding in June.

If you don't hear from me again, then I died and left this forum my best works.

we have a private villa 5 miles from Playa Americas , hehe

i've never been , but i went on a stag do in Lanzarote last year, 5 nights, was amazing, no sleeping , just 3-4 hours a night, pure carnage

my friends are all of the age where it's a once a year escape the wife/partner , and go mad,

last year in Lanzarote one lad ended up in the desert on his own, lost his shoe and came home at 5 am with a whole chicken!
