I find a white BG can really mess with the light, reflecting light onto the model.

I use this soft black weave material to absorb the light and show the mini in it's purset form

So just an update regarding my customized Halberds!

Recipe so far: Take 10 General plastic left arm standard pole arms, chisel the ends to a point, then take 10 Chaos metal Halberd arms, cut the axe heads off, and drill a point in the axe, to fit the shafts you prepped earlier.

I am aiming for Greatswords Bodies and Legs, with Beefy mean looking Halberds!

I want this extra 10 man detachment to look strong and sturdy!

That'll be a lot of work for a beefy core unit, but they'll look hot.  Can't wait to see a finished rank, or two!

I got carried away , and it took me 2 hours for 1 Halberd Arm!!

greatswords boxset ordered and in post, i predict 70 hours for 10 men !!

I paid specific attention to the Halberd Metal.

Use of red , green, blue and brown , and black washes to highlight and shade, then mithril silver on the edges,

I want a real weathered looking old medieval halberd!

As you should be!  I love the effect.  Are you going to go for a similar weathering for the armor of the soldiers, or are you planning on keeping them bright?

At this stage I can say that the clothing will be white / bleached bone ,

with drak grey insets,

red tassels and feathers,

the armour will be the same style indeed!

I might use some forgeworld weathering dust that i have also,

I like the Halberd conversions, but I would scrape off the arrow decorations, and possibly replace some of the spiky bits with something else, such as the comet tails from the scythes in the flagellant box
