certainly beefy Halberds, arguably too beefy for the 28 mm models.

However I love the idea that Empire Halberds should look nasty and dangerous!

You modified that Marauder figure.....eeeek!

The painting is awesome...but I have to agree that the halberd is too big....but just a little bit

Will you be using him as a R&F or a champion?

That Ostlander would make an uber-cool champion!! You can almost hear his battle-cry as he leaps forward with great weapon raised....!

i consider myself a cheat ,

spray grey primer, then wash all over,

pre mixed colours, like armour with brown to give it a rusty edge ,

then use mass washes and a hair dryer to speed up.

Art Pen to dot the eyes,

highlighting with a small brush speedily ,

then also the black BG i use to photo the model is really kind to the shading, and absorbs excess light nicely, so the pics always look ok.

i use GIMP Photo Tool to adjust the brightness and Contrast automatically

etc

it's fast

I MUST try that hair-dryer trick!! Also, these Ostlanders, will they be champions and/or characters? Or are you just painting 'em for the sake of painting 'em? Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just I have so little time that anything I paint is generally going into my army somewhere.....

They are being used in my army, as Halberd and Greatsword rank and file.

I'll post some pics in the future of the units updated.

Ah, O.K. It's just that I'd figured 'em for champions since you'd painted 'em so well.... It must take A-G-E-S to paint an army to this standard.....? *wondering*

So you began this blog/plog around May-June 2010? As your original post in this thread dates from that November....?

I think that's about right, i have been painting Empire since early last year, I think maybe march time in hindsight.

Before that I had a quick few months painting High Elves in 2004, then prior to that 40K/WH/Epic in 1989 - 1995/6.
