I've been looking at how GW used to paint their old 1980's Fighter F Series ranges in White Dwarf.

They used to use Blues, Reds, Yellows and Greens all in one unit, which is quite bizarre but also quite liberating for a painter!

I'm definitely interested in collecting all the old Fighter Series.

If you look at the original White Dwarf listings, around White Dwarf 85-90 the Fighters which appeared in adverts were later amalgamated into smaller general listings, in the catalogues from 1989-91.

Originally they had fighters, paladins, dogs of war etc.

Later they listed them as Adventurers , mixing up the models , hand picking some from earlier releases, like the scenario stuff - tragedy of mcdeath for instance...

I would anticipate needing about £1000 to collect the entire range.

It has to be about 200 models.

Wow you have found a habit more expensive than a crack habit  :icon_eek:
£1000 thats a holiday or deposit on a very nice motorcycle   :icon_cool:
but saying that my other two hobbies of the motor bike (insurance, mot and service) and reenactment (a very nice live fire K98 or Mosin nagant £250 plus £100+ for a gun cabinet and bribing the one who must be obeyed so i can have said live firer ++++£) is not on the cheep side either
If it wasn't for the dried frog pills i would be mad !!!!!!!

If you own enough of the 1980's - 1990's Citadel Fighter Series, and the Marauder Series, then paint them all; you would have enough different troops to be able to simply hand pick 50 of any troop type for a battle.

You're just trying to justify spending all that money on those minis, you're not fooling anyone! :icon_wink:

http://www.solegends.com/marauder/marfly1989spring/marfly1989sprfmm64.html

me got me 8 of these!!!

the guy who listed them on e bay, didn't list them properly , so i slipped in at £16 for the win , unchallenged !

I'm still very upset -- I've got those figures but the champion (HL4) "disappeared" from my army at a tournament a couple years ago. He's seriously one of my favorite GW figures :x

I'd never have the heart to crack open a 25 year old blister.

I do. Even better if it can be done in front of sweating "mint-in-box" obsessed fanboys. They were meant to be painted up & pushed around the table, not hidden away in a box in someone's basement.

For some reason the Halflings Blister arrived and doesn't include the HL2 model.

It's got duplicates of the sergent, the man catcher and the guy eating a sandwich!

Any1 want to swap me an HF2 for one of the above??

there is something wrong with service stations in the UK.

They are mostly old 1960's and 70's builds , with horrible toilets, and crumbling car parks.

Looking great.
I wish I had your amount of time and money. I love old models of any kind but lack the bank account to get a substantial amount.
The third guy in from the left is my favorite model. With the blonde beard and the greatsword. I think my freind showing me that model is what got me into warhammer anyway  :icon_mrgreen: someday I need to get one
