harry with one horn?!!!

urrgggg

how do i get me one of them?!!!

I'm pretty sure Harald with one horn is the more common of the two, so Im sure you'll be able to find one.

I found this on the collecting citadel site, though I could swear there are variations of the other Heroic Fighters as well:
http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Casting_Variants

I do happen to have an extra one horned Harald as well as a flat winged Lord Aquila...  maybe if you have some old Orcs or something...

Here's another little minor variation I came across for you to ruminate on.

I don't know how well the picture picks it up but the guy on the right has his helmet wings sweeping back and his head is tilted up more.  The guy on the right has flat wings and his head is tilted down.

Is it possible those very slight differences are as a result of problems with casting on earlier models, or changes to make the moulds last longer, rather than specifically to sell it as a different model, where in some cases you can clearly see much bigger changes as if a model was mostly done, cast, then variations sculpted on top of the base model.

It could also be that the model or mould has warped slightly rather than intential changes

@ Orcboy - you seem to have some duplicate OOP metal fighters! Fancy selling to me anything?

I strongly suspect in the case of these Fighters the changes were made to improve casting performance, I can see were flattening the helmet wings and removing the horn will make the model more two-dimensional and there for less casting errors.

I don't know about selling but if you have any old orcs or duplicate fighters of your own I might be up for a trade on the two Heroic Fighters.

I run a tight ship m8, buying for my collection, and don't have any old minis from past childhood etc.

====

On a collecting theme, i have almost collected all 16 battle lords, and all 14 paladins, !

Gonna nail each mini collection one by one,

also have 1/2 the 42 Barbarians they made, and perhaps 50 out of the 100 fighters

it's slowly coming together , but at £5 a pop it takes time to get all the individual models on e bay!

na me gonna time capsule the lot when i get ill in 2080,

drill down 100 feet, and line the case with Gold so as never to corrode,

some1 in the year 4021 will find it and marvel at the primitive hobby of their forefathers!

I hope that plan is implemented! It would be a great shame for the collection to be split up, go to some one who doesn't properly appreciate it (or worse)!

Got plans for any more models tomorrow? :D

Not sure if you own these, or if it's even something that you would buy, but it looks like something that would fit your collection.

I'm a collector also, but no way near as hectic as you with "gotta have them all", I just buy what I like the look of and all the limited editions.

It's amazing but in 1998 there were so many variations of bretonnian knights available, especially questing knights but now they are IMPOSSIBLE to find and I want them all :/

I've got pretty much everything empire I want so far.

Here is the big question.  Who here would convert a limited edition if they had duplicates?

Me for one, I think IMO that a model is be to used as it was meant to be....... eg. as you want to your imagination!
Then make three times that. It should be enough for half the roof Glue
You could certainly amass quite a collection of testicles

I believe that every figure should be converted, no matter how small a change, to make it unique; so I’d convert the original and only buy a duplicate if I saw a second conversion option.
