The wizard lord killed Galrauch, shot some wounds off a giant chaos spawn with the summoning, and then charged in and finished off a chaos chariot.
Four things to think about: I made more than the number of ward saves I should have, and that helped. Second, with the Tome of midnight and casting with 3+ while only being dispelled with a +1, I was getting spells off more consistently than ever. And that made all the difference. I got Familiars to go off every time I cast it and that just swung combat in my direction every time, not to mention killing things like crazy. Third, I had a lot of other threats my opponent had to manage. Namely, the other imperial Griffon and the war machines. If my opponent didn’t have to divide his attention between those, I might not have done as well. Fourth and last: I still actually lost the game. So despite the wizard’s performance, he didn’t win the game for me. My opponent had a lord on manticore that just ran roughshod over the far flank, killing war machines, a griffon general, and tying up or causing to flee my state troops and crossbows. By comparison, my wizard accomplished quite a bit less.
I think the Wizard lord on Griffon is one of our highest output units. Maybe two ranks of infantry if it’s wide enough might do more now. But that guy is a blender. He wasn’t even hampered that badly by being T4. I thought for sure he’d be useless post-faq. And I’m sure there are armies he’d struggle against. But in the right match up, he’s pretty incredible.
