Buckeye Team Tourney Empire/Wood Elves 2400
« on: July 18, 2013, 12:31:10 AM »
Hey All;

Starting a thread about a Team Tourney I played with Zif.
I took 1150 worth of Wood Elves, Zif gathered up 1250 worth of Empire troops.

Our List:
Wood Elves
Wood Elf Noble on Steed with Hail of Doom Arrow
Branchwraith with Cluster of Radiants/Lamentation of Despair
3 x 10 Glade Guard, one with Banner of Eternal Flame
2 x 3 Treekin
2 Great Eagles

Empire
Empire Warrior Priest on Barded Steed
Empire BSB Captain on Barded Steed
Shadow Wizard (lvl 2) on Steed
8 Inner Circle Knights
5 Knightly Orders
2 Great Cannons
1 Mortar
1 Steam Tank

Battle 1:  Tomb Kings/Skaven - Alternating Corners + 4 Battle Objectives
TK List 1244
Lvl 2 Hierophant - Lore of Nek
Lvl 2 Priest on Steed - Lore of Light
Casket of Souls
Hierotitan
5 x 10 Skeleton Archers
3 Necropolis Knights
Tomb Scorpion

Skaven List 1156
Chieftan BSB w/Storm Banner
Chieftan General (with Stormvermin)
Warlock Engineer w/Doom Rocket
Stormvermin x32 w/Warpfire Team
Hellpit Abomb
2 x 5 Gutter Runners
7 Jezzails

Scenario:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

TK/Skaven won the roll, elected to deploy the TK Army first, in the Northwest corner, 4 units of archers facing South, Necro Knights and last Archers facing West, Titan and Casket behind.  Scorpion entombed.

Empire and TK face all the fighty units at the TK.  STank and IC Knights facing North.  Treekin and Eagle facing West.  Glade Guard and small Knight units facing the Skaven zone (SE) corner.

Skaven faced the Abomb and Jezzails at Empire (SW) corner and Stormvermin + Engineer facing Wood Elves (NE) corner.

Map:

TK and Skaven go first:
ABomb crests the Hill heading for the Empire Army.  Stormvermin and Engineer move North.  TK move to hill top, Knights head East.
Engineer pops the Doom Rocket and hits the Glade Guard directly, killing 9 of 10 and wounding the Noble.  Nothing else hurt.

Wood Elves respond by moving toward the Hellpit, letting fly with a Flaming Hail of Doom, wounding the Hellpit, an Empire cannon finished it off.  Jezzails blow their leadership and flee off the South Edge.  Normal GG shoot up the Weapons team and the Engineer.

Turn 2:
Gutter Runners arrive.  Knights charge blocking Eagle.

And the Beatdown continues...End of the game is a complete TK wipe and the Stormvermin get Mortared and Glade Guarded away from the objective.

So 1 - 0 after turn 1.  Next up a NASTY WoC/DoC list, Meeting Engagement.

We deployed the Artillery on the Giant Pyramid Hill.  The Noble and Wizard (Miasma and Pendulum) in the small unit of Knights.

I'll post some Pics and skip to the end.
Lowlights:  6 points of Damage (Searing Doom) on STank.  Eagle kills 2 WM threating Marauders, who with 3 remaining attacks, do 3 wounds and sweep the hill of our only advantage.  Zero wounds with multiple GG and HODA on unkillable Hero.  Our IC Knights bounce off the Chaos Knights with a winning charge and get counter charged.  STank gets eaten by the Shaggoth.

This team got second (to another WOC/DOC) and had a filthy list....

Battle 3 of 3 vs DoC/WoC (again).

Special Rule.  Chaos deploy 2 units, then alternating deployment, then Chaos gets to redeploy 2 units.

DOC List:
Herald of TZ, Lvl 2 Lore of Metal, on Disc
Hearld of Nurgle (deployed with Plaguebearers)
21 Plaguebearers
10 Bloodletters
1 Beast of Nurgle
5 Flesh Hounds (Ambush)
5 Chaos Furies
Skullcannon

WOC List:
BSB Exalted TZ w/Crown of Command, ToP
19 TZ Chaos Warriors w/Banner of Discipline
3 Skullcrushers w/Banner of Swifnetss
2 Gorebeast Chariots
5 Marauder Slananesh Horsemen

Deployed:  Marauder Horse, Skullcrusher (Special rule move from R to L flank), Furies, Nurgle Beast, Skullcannon, Plauge Demons

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Deployment continued:
Bloodletters, Chariot, Warriors, Chariot, Disc Sorc

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Empire Deployment:
All Three units of GG with an Eagle and Branchwraith out West.  WM deployed along back line, Knights w/Characters, Treekin and Steam Tank with an Eagle redirector.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Woodie/Emp had first turn:  Cannoned off the Metal Sorcerer and the Skullcannon.  Chaos push forward.

Turn 2:  Glade Guard shoot up everything except the Skullcrushers.  Cannons failed to kill Chariots.  Chaos moves up, no Chariot charges.
Turn 3:  Empire charges Chariots, STank fails to connect Warriors, Eagle blocks the Warriors, Wood Elf Noble blocks the Bloodletters (kills 1 with HODA, fail).  Empire and Treeking bounce off the Gorebeast Chariots which make the saves.  Juggers charge into a Glade Guard unit.  Warriors charge Eagle and FAIL to kill it!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Turn 4:  Empire Knights and remaining Treekin flank charge the Chariots.  STank fails to connect the Warriors again.  Empire finally blow up the impossible to kill Chariots (390 points of Kin vs 140 point of Chariot, game balance my ass....).  The Empire Knights had Wither -3T on it's Chariot.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Ending:  Eagle blocks the Juggers (and later the Branchwraith helps), setting up a flank shot with Cannons later on.  Stank finally gets into the Warriors and Grinds them down..

Big win for the Good Guys.

Zif and I ended up in 4th, one point out of 3rd.  Not bad for Wood Elves and an Empire list sporting a Mortar.  Zif probably remembers more.  Keep an eye out for his comments.

Nice last game! Love the thoughtful redirects and that an eagle held warriors for a turn :)

I like seeing the pics, but can't help wishing you'd done the reports in BC, especially that last game. I know what a pain it is to do, but it is so much easier to follow and to learn from.

As always, thanks for posting the rep, Noght. Any chance you're planning on attending the Colonial GT in Elmira NY this September? Frantically painting up my all-cav to get it up to snuff for the tourney.

 :::cheers:::

Well, the first and second games were forgone conclusions after the lists were exchanged.  The last one was very tactical.  We almost managed to pull off a Double Eagle **** Block using fleeing GG and an Eagle on the Juggers....

I love doing BC, except I need a better system of note taking that isn't an giant time sink during a Tourney.  Heck, I forget to take enough pics when I'm in the heat of the moment as is.   :icon_frown:

FYI, both Zif and I played in the GT on Saturday and Sunday.  I played Wood Elves and he played Orc & Goblin.  Both of us started in the Tier 3 Band (Puppies and Kitties class).

I'll post a link to the Wood Elf Battle Reps.
Here's my 2400 Wood Elf list:
Highborn General; Longbow Sword of Antiheros, Stone of Rebirth, Annoyance of Netlings, LA & Charmed Shield
Noble Battle Standard: Armour of Silvered Steel, Luckstone
Spellweaver Lore of Beasts; Magic Level 4; Longbow, Rhymer's Harp, Dispel Scroll
32 Eternal Guard - core Full Command Standard; Musician Razor Standard
20 Red Glade Guard Standard; Musician, Banner of the Eternal Flame
20 Green Glade Guard Standard; Musician
3 Treekin
3 Treekin
10 Wardancers w/Champ
1 Great Eagle
1 Great Eagle

I have the same challenge with taking notes and pics. I do find, though, that if I set up the deployment, details start coming back to me pretty clearly. Sometimes I forget magic phases, or shooting, but I usually remember movement and combat.

I played an interesting list for the second game of my tourney last weekend. Something like:

Treeman Ancient
Noble, 2+, spear, longbow, eagle
Noble, 3+, spear, longbow, eagle
Noble, some stuff, longbow, eagle
Lvl 4, Life, 4++, longbow
Lvl 2, Life, scroll, steed (in wild riders), Longbow
18 Glade Guard
12 Glade Guard Scouts
10 Wild Riders
16 Dryads, branchwraith with some stuff
Treeman
Treeman

I actually had a bit of a struggle with the list. Treemen are hard to kill!!
