I've done it! Despite my deep seated dislike of painting vehicles, I got off my ass and finally painted my Russ and Chimera. It's taken two years (or more) but they're finally completed. Full props to Demonslayers Ad Mech and my buddy Luke for getting me motivated to do some painting. Now if I could only get photobucket to work...

It's not the best painting, but I'm happy to get it to table top quality. The writing on the name plates is disappointing for me, but I just don't have the dexterity to do any better.

Canadian's what I'm going for! They're called the 1st Canadiana for a reason!

So I've got the silliest of 1st world problems. But I bought some space marine terminators off ebay to convert into deathwatch ones to add to my veteran squads. I then went out and bought a ton of DW upgrade sprues to get the shoulder pads for them. Unfortunately the pictures weren't great, and it turns out that four of the five terminators have moulded left arms, with the pad and the arm molded together. Just unfortunate and annoying. Now I've got to spend time scrapping of icons and green stuff new ones.

Woo! It's terrible picture time!

A few years ago I inherited a box of warhammer from a sort of relative who passed away. It was almost all half built conversions and scrap points. Over the years I've slowly pillaged it for various projects. Recently I discovered that there were actually enough half built kits to combine with other half built kits to make full vehicles. I've never really looked at Eldar before, so I didn't pay much attention to it till recently.

So the Eldar stuff is all salvaged stuff, which includes some apparently old forgeworld parts.

Front and center is the new special store anniversary stormcast model. A bad ass warrior women with a big ass glaive. I intend to run her as a stormcast, but also paint her in a way that I can use her as an Inquisitor in Terminator Armor. Behind her are some of the new Enforcer models (Which I mention in my Necromunda thread). They'll be serving as Inquisitorial Acolytes, with a suitably low life span no doubt.

The various imperial guard models are all kitbashed from various sources. Some are going to be divided up to serve as special weapons troopers in various squads, while some of the fancier guys (on the left behind the kitbashed deathwatch biker) will likely join the Inquisitorial Acolyte Survival Program.

Here's the whole group

A close up of some savaged Eldar vehicles, a kitbashed deathwatch biker, and some suckers new acolytes.

Below is the mentioned stormcast warrior lady, backed up by the new enforcers. More Eldar lurk at the rear, and some brave guardsmen with special weapons cover the right flank.

And a final picture of those same brave guardsmen. Training time for them was 4 months: transport time 6 months: life expectancy on the battlefield? 2 hours.

All in all a good return for the investment 😸👆

Love the acolytes. Good idea for the stormcast.

Lol thanks guys.

@GP, they might not be savages, but you should have seen the condition I found them in. They had been savaged.

The only thing worse then chaos is... poorly taken pictures! And we've got both in this update! Primarily a 'what I built" update, because apparently the photo's I took of painted stuff have vanished into the void.

Start off with the brave Imperials trying to keep order!

Next some brave Inquisitorial Acolytes venture into the depths of space.

Next is Missionary Taddius and his blurry marine escort.

Gasp! A painted model! They do exist!

A filthy poxwalker! Followed up by a squad of traitor guardsmen, eager to kill the loyalists.

Then the tide of grey plastic continues.

Blurry pictures for the blurry picture throne!

(That last one also has some new AoS ghosties I picked up. The Ghost models are just such a pleasure to paint. When I eventually get there.

The plan for these new marines is to paint them up to join my Blackstone Fortress models. In Blackstone when enemies are summoned, you can only summon as many as you have models available. So previous I only had 2 models, which meant my explorers only ever faced two at a time. With 10 more it looks like the difficulty might get cranked up...

Homebrew lore wise they're actually part of my homebrew renegade known as the Fianna. To stay good with the Blackstone kit I plan to paint them in black and bronze, instead of Black Legions black and gold. I've even written up some little fluff pieces about how other renegades and pirates frequently misidentify the Fianna as Black Legion. Something that annoys both of them to no end.

Brace yourselves for necrothreadery AND poor quality pictures!

In classic fashion, I've been ignoring my painting to instead focus on a brand new project! It was originally termed my "Christmas Project" but really I had no intention of actually getting it down for Christmas. Essentially the goal is to make 9 highly customized space marines, each one themed around one of my friends. Custom sigils, special weapons, etc. Once it's all done I'm writing up some kill team rules for them, and along with a fluff blurb, then mailing each one out to the friend themselves. Everyone get's their own little wee avatar.

I'm bending the lore a fair bit for the fluff. My friends and I all do our own homebrew lore. Plus everyone's heavily influenced by halo and star wars and such. So fluff wise these aren't actually going to be space marines, but actually a radical inquisitors experiments to make similar super soldiers. Very similar to Spartans meets Astartes.

Stage one, the construction, is done! I'm just waiting on some deathwatch shoulder pads and then its on to painting.

Seven months later and I manage to get an update in just before my thread moves off the front page. Got a bit of painting done and actually took some time to take some pictures!

First up, lets take a visit to the Blackstone Fortress. Its gotta be one of my favorite boxsets of all time. Today we take a crack at the Navigator of the crew. I haven't settled on a base I'm happy with. Hence the bare black. I want something that fits in for the game BUT also looks decent on a tabletop beside my army.

Then we have a fugly Lord of Contagion. Pictures are terrible at showing it, but the nurgling actually have quite detailed faces!

Then onto some other favorites, Deathwatch Eliminators! Meet the snipers!

Hopefully more coming!

More pictures I found that date from March 2020, including some shots I quite like of some Deathwatch. So might as well add them in!

Lets start off with a group shot of some Deathwatch, including a bunch of terminators and reivers.

Then we get a group shot, followed by some close ups, of a Chaos Space Marine squad. My homebrew Chaos Marines are actually renegades who usually aren't very chaosy, but I got these guys to expand my forces for Blackstone Fortress. That meant painting them up as Black Legion, even though I don't particularly like them. Luckily, homebrew can do whatever it wants, so I wrote up a nifty little short story ages ago about how my homebrew renegades are constantly being confused as the Black Legion because they have similar colours. Something that causes no end of grief for them.

Then we have a bit of a random one. Some real old school marines painted up in my homebrew chapters colours, and some catachans. The old school marines I got from a buddy and they were just covered in thick paint and glue and I didn't want to strip it. So frankly I just slapped some colours on to get it table top ready and if they ever see a battlefield they'll be first into the fire. So to speak.

Huzzah for updates! First we have some Death Guard gross boys.

Next there's a Space Wolf Deathwatch Captain who's hanging around with his buddy the White Dwarf Tech Priest. Weirdly, they are the same size.

I'm also working on a special project to make some Deathwatch guys for buddies.
