Dogs of War

Hello everyone. I was recently browsing through the dogs of war list on the GW website, and I found some interesting units in the DOW list. I just wanted to know if anyone here has used DOW in their Empire army, and if so how effective are they? Also, if anyone else was planning on fielding some, what DOW units are best for the empire.

Personally, I was looking At Volands Venators, they're pretty much like having another Knights of the Inner Circle Unit, So you could have some strong cavalry with them. The Pikemen also look interesting as well as Long Drong Slayer's Pirates.

i would probably take Bragdanza's Beseagers, Pizzaro's lost legion, or Bronzino's galoper guns.
Kickin' ass and takin' names

Just in case you don't know, the DOW list on the website is the old list from white dwarf. The 2002 annual has the current, updated list. Mostly, they made a few units special choices (all the pikes, besiegers, vendetta) and changed some character equipment. They did also change the besiegers so that they only get a 3+ save vs missiles and a 5+ in combat, rather than 3+ for both. Sadly, they are now inferior to dwarf crossbowmen.

Anyway, I generally prefer the vanilla DOW over the ROR. Pikemen, Ogres, Dwarfs, Halfling Hotpot and maybe light cavalry are all quite good.
From the ROR I like Ricco's Republican Guard, Leopold's Leopard Company, Lumpin Croop's Halflings and the galloper gun. Well, I like the look and idea of the gun, but it doesn't seem like very good value for points.
Hey, I could still beat up a woman!
If I wanted to.
