Somewhere between 60 and 70 Euros for a double room per night, meaning about 30-35 p.P. per night. Including breakfast buffet.

Fandir is officially challenged to a warhammer game, by me! Since he didn't show up last year, this will be a grudge match with a forfeit for the loser!  :icon_twisted:

Yes and we have decided that Finlay has to pay the forfeit no matter who loses.

I'll be bringing either 2400 and 3000 points of dwarfs or 2400 points of goblins.
I'll bring my 1000 point nazi army too if anyone dares play it. Otherwise you can all oooohhh and ahhhh it to please my ego.

If anyone's interesting in buying my Tallarn / Jihadist army, I'll bring that too:
3 forgeworld heavy weapons, forgeworld sniper team, unit of camel riders, Bin Laden and about 45 non-GW Taliban models.
Ohhh.. And a GW chimera. And 10 GW IG models

Oh. And also a two-legged GW at-at with the mad mufti driving it.
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Finlay on December 30, 2012, 05:24:17 PM
I think I'll only bring one army, trying to play with two was too many.via played too many games and didn't drink enough last year, or play enough board games
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: rufus sparkfire on December 30, 2012, 06:11:23 PM
I'll probably just bring a fantasy army, since I don't know the new 40K rules anyway. And it's quite hard to carry both.

Must remember to sort out a supply of this ...........

...................... to take home

I did some swapping/trading with a couple of the Dutch guys last year, and they 'donated' a selection of beers to my collection.
There was a bottle of the above included and I noticed the 11.6% very quickly.

I saved it for a special occasion and drank it on the Sunday before Christmas as we hosted a party 'chez midaski'.

I have to point out that the alcohol intake is not high these days and after no breakfast I opened the bottle around 12.30pm as the guests were about to arrive .........  Mrs Midaski said she was surprised I was quite so cheerful, and I must be getting to like her coven friends ............. and feeling quite merry soon after, I followed it up with some Triple Leffes.

I did get to consume some curry and chilli which probably helped maintain some coherence and avoided a 'rufus' ................. but let's just say taking home one bottle will not be enough this year.

When Christov took Fr1day and I around the wholesalers I don't recall seeing it on their shelves - I suppose a Belgian store selling Dutch beer would be heresy then .....................  :engel:

I'm still not sure I can go really.

Ellie is due on 11th April, so if she is induced two weeks late the baby would be three weeks old when I went, and if she had a cesarean I wouldn't be able to go.

Ok forget the old idea...new idea for an army for the EOW list....I need Halflings....with crossbows.

Any good Halfling models around in doubt I even take bow ones. But nice ones like those Halfling Mercs GW made.
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Aldaris on January 20, 2013, 09:50:22 AM
Halflings? You're just trying to suck up to rufus, for reasons I can only speculate about.
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Fandir Nightshade on January 20, 2013, 10:02:07 AM
If I go Averlandish, Halflings make the most sense....that way I can go for an Imperial Army with lost of imperial soldiers and halflings so stuff I can use for my regular Empire army too...Greatswords, Halberds, Handgunners and Halflings.

im going to use these

they also have ones with halberds and spears!

HAlflings with slings, or with light crossbows and a captain which lets them shoot twice... nice nice.

The only GW halflings I have are some fighting cocks- they will be my rangers.

Those are nice too I was thinking the black hat ones but their site won´t let me order.

And yes light crossbowy halflings with captain is the way to go!  :biggriin:
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Midaski on January 20, 2013, 03:06:22 PM
I've got some Black Hat and they are nice enough, but a bit small and a fairly plain sculpt.

GW has two distinct sizes - the old early LotR / Hobbit inspired ones which are quite tiny, and then the later ones that went with the halfpot era.

Those warploque ones also have a touch of the 'ugly' like the BattleForge ones.

The black hat are well ugly!

I don't really like them, but they are six quid cheaper for 20.

I think the ones with bows are okish...have you also seen their dwarves with great weapons?

But I have to agree that your ones are nicer
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Finlay on January 20, 2013, 06:08:17 PM
Yeh, I saw the dwarfs with axes and bows, I like them quite a bit.

So..... Halfling captain with quickshot to go with the unit of twenty archers, and the rangers to have slings? Or rangers to have light crossbows with the quick shot captain and the archers on their own
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Fandir Nightshade on January 20, 2013, 06:30:35 PM
I thought two units of 10 rangers with Captain all with light crossbows if people allow me to let them count as composite short bows S4 20 inches or with bows if not.

Shall I get you some of the dwarves won´t do any good this bash but maybe for the next....shipping is rather high and so far I am thinking some halflings and maybe a unit of dwarves too  :biggriin: ::heretic:: ::heretic:: ::heretic:: ::heretic:: ::heretic:: someone gave me ideas.

Quote
Summon Pie

The Halfling summons a giant pie over an enemy unit, drenching them with scalding-hot gravy and bits of stewbeef. After successful casting, place the large template over an enemy unit within 24" and LOS. Roll the Scatter Die to determine accuracy; if the pie scatters, roll a D6 to determine how many inches (note; this may be reduced by magic items such as Nigella's Spicy Baps). Models under the template take an automatic S4 AP hit (as the hot gravy seeps through their armor). If used on Ogres, any rolls of "1" to wound result in the Ogre unit being healed 1 wound as they feast on the pie (this may not add new models to the unit, although it will reduce wounds suffered).

Hide the Sausage

Taking a sausage and secreting it about his person, the Halfling places an obfuscating cloud of airborne flour, oregano and pasta-steam over a friendly unit. Pick a friendly unit within 12" and LOS - enemies shooting at this unit suffer a -1 to hit until the spell is disspelled.

Butterfingers

Consuming a large buttered muffin, pikelet or other toasted bread product, the Halfling mage targets an enemy unit and makes them clumsy and likely to drop their weapons. Choose an enemy unit in combat and within 24" - this unit must make an I test or drop their weapons and / or shields, forcing them to fight as if equipped with a single handweapon for the duration of the next combat.

Sticky buns

By eating a vast sticky bun, the Halfling summons a morass of royal icing on the floor. Use the flame template with the pointed end touching the Halfling. Any unit touched by the template (friend or foe) finds themselves mired in white frosting and stuck to the floor. They must make a S test or have their M value halved in the next movement phase.

Failed Soufle

The Halfling draws deep into his burried memories of failed cookery, and broadcasts them across the battlefield. Pick any enemy character. The Halfling and the character both roll D6 and add their LD; the one with the lower total takes the difference as automatic wounds with no armor save as the horror and shame of a colapsed soufle overwhelms them. The Halfling may claim appropriate bonus to his roll for magic items such as Gordon Ramsey's Profanasarus.

While I had hoped this year might have been my first outing to the Eurobash, I won't be able to make it.

So I'll sigh and just add a hopeful "Next year!".

If I actually would attend in 2014 though, how appropriate would it be to take along a 6 year old (boy)?

Commandante... Have you made your special Irish fantasy rules yet?

Yes to an extent, I can bring the first draft to the Eurobash.
Well... what I suggest is the following:
Basic warhammer fantasy rules: you create your Irish rules and I'll create a Scottish list.
2500 points... obviously.

I've not penned anything down as of yet, but there are various intimidating ideas bubbling to be typed.
If you want a teaser taste of units to come, let me know. I'll gladly let everyone have a sneak preview of the drama that awaits you!!!

No, transportation shouldn't be a problem (but thanks for the hint). It's mainly due to my wife having been sick these past 2 months, both children being in an annoying phase at the moment, things being busy at work, not having a lot of financial leeway atm and probably most importantly of all: Me not having seriously invested time in Warhammer the past 3 years or so.

2012 was supposed to be the year to get that ball rolling again. Finally getting the gaming table in the attic (nearly there though). Playing games again (I barely know 7th Ed.), painting, converting etc.

So that's what I'm aiming for this year! :icon_mrgreen:
All my gaming friends are in a similar situation (small kids, bought a house these last few years etc.) so I'm going to stoke the fire. It worked with starting up the roleplaying group again and I think it'll work with WHFB as well. I need that gaming table though! :icon_mrgreen:

The army will consist of regiments of stand-ins who will be sort of recognisable as that which they portray.
It's the army specialisms which will hopefully become legend (or a complete embarassment).

Not sure I can or should go.

There'll be plenty more bashes - probably a lot more than you'll have children.

However it makes no real difference to the travel - the tunnel is a fixed cost for the car.
Unless Hell freezes over and Mogsam or DWhitey actually want to come the seat will still have your name on it.

The exact number of Hotel rooms tend also allows for a double or single occupation, so you can leave the final decision to quite close.

I am sure rufus and I can cover the extra "Mr Grumpy" allocation if you do stay with the family.

I'm going to try and book the tunnel fairly soon - and will aim for the same sort of times as last year.

Just poor timing of conception. We set a window for when we wanted the baby, (a bit later!) and figured it would take a while to conceive. Ellie got pregnant after literally the first time we tried.

I think I'm going to say I wont go.
So for soth booking rooms, and if anyone wants a seat on the car, go for it.
Then if there is space in the car and hotel and things are ok at the time I can decide to come last minute.
Ellie is saying if it was a few weeks later would probably make all the difference- so maybe the baby will be early!

This is a repeat post from the sticky.

I am going to Salute on Saturday - so if anyone wants anything now is a good time to ask.

http://www.salute.co.uk/salute/salute-2013/

For example, I really like the 4Ground stuff    http://www.4ground.co.uk/

I have some of their Dark Age 28mm stuff which is nice, but I have just started making a couple of their American Legends Western / FYI cabins and the fact that they are providing what is essentially a wood building makes them even better.
[DWhitey has some pics in his B&P thread I think]

Quote
Buy £300 worth or more of 4Ground products from our 4Ground show stand on the day, at Salute and you instantly get 35% off their cost.

£200 worth of 4Ground products you get a 25% discount.
£125 worth of 4Ground products you get a 15% discount.
£50 worth of 4Ground products and you will still get a 10% discount there and then!

That’s £300 worth of products for only £195!?!

Please note: this can only last as long as we have the stock on our stand at the show.

I've not seen much in the way of discounted deals on their stuff before.
I have some stuff on my target list, but if anybody wishes to add anything on for delivery at the Bash please speak up now.

Or if you see any other deals you want me to take advantage of.

:engel:

@Mids

still interested in some?  :closed-eyes:

Anvil is pretty much the only way to play dwarves without giving the free victory away to your enemy....on the other hand if you roll a double one (miscast and worst result) the anvil with the head honcho is gone.

If we two play and you don´t want to play we can discuss what I should field for a fun game.

Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee

I did use the anvil on the two occasions I took dwarfs to tournaments. But that was in 6th or 7th edition, so a while back now. The anvil's lightning was good for nuking annoying elf skirmishers and things like that.

I do hate that it can blow itself up so easily. Major fluff issue!

Quote

Not nuking me off the table with magic would do it. Though that goes for any game of 8th edition.

The magic system is no fun! If I want a game where everything is decided by massively powerful spells, I'll just play Magic (the card game) which takes fifteen minutes to play and is a better game anyway.

An il is excellent.
Miners charging in turn two.
Rangers... With a hero with the rune of challenge... Combat in round one!
And heroes with the rune of brotherhood... So they join miners or rangers and that with the anvil... Oh yes!

Stone thrower with a master engineer: S5 and re-rollable dice...

What's not to like? Fastest army out there!
Unless the an il fails and the enemy flees from the rune of challenge...
Then it's hell.

This is what I'm thinking of plYing at the bash.

I'm planning on using waved attacks (1st assault, 2nd and then third). Never tried it before, nor do I have any idea as of yet how succesful it's gonna be.
So, tips, tricks, hints and definate no-no's I hope will help better the assault game plan.

1st wave:
Daemon prince of Nurgle: 395 points
Wings
Charmed shield
Flaming breath
Scaled skin
Chaos armour
lvl 1 lore of Nurgle (for stream of corruption)

Chimera: 275 points
Flaming breath
Regeneration

Diverters and warmachine hunters:

5x marauder horsemen with flails and a musician: 90 points
5x marauder horsemen with flails and a musician: 90 points
5x dogs with vanguard: 40 points

2nd wave:
Nurgle Sorcerer lvl 2: 215 points
Chaos familiar
Daemonic mount
5x Nurgle knights with full command and ensorcelled weapons: 255 points

3x Dragon ogres with great weapons: 204 points

Chaos chariot with steeds: 110 points

3rd wave and fail safe:
Chaos lord of Nurgle (general): 315 points
Sword of battle
Helm of many eyes
Talisman of protection
23 Nurgle warriors with full command and halberds: 486 points

BSB with halberd: 194 points
Armour of destiny
23 marauders with full command and flails: 222 points

Chaos warshrine: 125 points

Total: 3016 points (so something's gotta give)
----------------------------------------------------

I like trying different tactics. And after a long hard think, this is what I've come up with for my chaos army (still got to buy the flying chicken though).
I reckon that the 1st wave should attract enough attention to let the horsemen and warhounds do what they need to do.

The second wave is basically a grinding wave, suited to take on anything fast coming my way or to whittle down an opponent who looks nasty enough to hurt the warriors.

The list is quite low on magic: 5 spells in total. I hope the first wave (and if not, then the second) should be enough to hurt the enemy's magic capability and the fast cav should be able to keep artillery at bay.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers.

You should. The games I've played in 6th still can be counted on one hand as well, so I guess we all will suck with the rules. So what? It'll be fun!

And a chance for revenge!

At some point I'll have to think about making an army list.

Dude... miners!
Anvil, 2 large units of miners... stick your lord and BSB in the miners (so they don't start the game) and a large unit of longbeard rangers with great weapons... and a character with the rune of challenge (so you can force an opponent to charge you).

EVERYONE tells you it can't work. And last year I won at least half the games I played. And I was a drunk insomniac with a migraine the whole bloody time. Sober... nigh on unbeatable (because people using generic lists don't usually anticipate opposing an army which isn't there at the start of the battle).
In a drug induced, yet oddly poetic, delirium, I once muttered: "the tactic is called target denial".
I was going to add: "because the enemy doesn't know what to do when there's nothing there to go for.". Alas, by the time I got around to adding it, I was already nose deep in Cadbury's chocolate and salt 'n' vinegar crisps.

Dwarfs finally have better artillery than the Empire (until they get a new book which will probably ruin it all). Dwarf cannon = 90 points! 125 with the rune of re-roll both artillery dice! And it no longer does d3 wounds.

Too bad the flame cannon doesn't work any more, but who needs it.

Ha ha, is that your sneaky skaven trick? Scouting?

The anvil is quite hard to kill... especially if you entrench it. Did you just tie it up in combat so it couldn't use the runes?

Yeah. But the little rat managed to destroy it too.
In round one or so he had his scout in close combat. And the anvil only serves one purpose in that army... so it wasn't equipped to do anything.
Normally it uses runes up to round 4 before it's in combat.

Nowadays, when I play dwarves, I keep a slayer-hero nearby the anvil and the stone thrower (rune of accuracy, 2x rune of +1 strength and an engineer-hero: expensive 175 points roughly, but re-rolling artillery and scatter dice with a S5 magical attack template weapon is sooooo cool).
The single little slayer-hero has proven his points multiple times.

Another question:
I generally frown (and since I normally look like I'm frowning, when I actually do frown, it's a pretty serious affair) on the use of special characters.
HOWEVER... Festus the Leechlord... cheaper than a regular LvL 2 sorcerer-hero (if you give it some magic, etc.)... and the whole unit he's in gets regeneration (5) and poisoned attacks.

Would anyone point at me and laugh if I added him in my army?
(I probably won't anyways, just wondering).

Oh! Were you using the updated anvil rules from the dwarf errata? The whole thing uses the runelord's stats and saves in close combat.

Anvil update:

Quote
Replace the rules for the Anvil of Doom with the following:

M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Anvil of Doom - - - - 10 5* - - -
Runelord 3 6 4 4 5 3 3 2 9
Anvil Guard 3 5 3 4 5 1 2 1 9

Unit Type:War Machine

Crew: The Anvil has a crew consisting of a Runelord and two
Anvil Guards.
*Remove one Anvil Guard model when the first Wound is
inflicted on the Anvil of Doom, the second Anvil Guard when
the second Wound is inflicted, but only remove the Runelord
when the fifth Wound is inflicted as, unlike the other crew, he
has three Wounds not just one.

Special Rules

Unbreakable.

Anvil of Doom: A Dwarf army may have one Anvil of Doom.
The Anvil is a war machine that cannot be moved. The Anvil
receives two attacks for the Runelord, instead of one attack as
would normally be the case for a war machine. Use the best
Weapon Skill, armour and ward saving throw available to any
surviving member of the crew against all wounds that are
suffered by the Anvil. The crew receive a 4+ ward save
against missile fire and ranged magical attacks, and a 6+ ward
save against close combat attacks.

Dispel Dice: The Anvil adds one dispel dice to the Dwarfs dice
pool in the opponent’s Magic phase.

The ‘Striking Runes on the Anvil of Doom’ special rules are
used unchanged.

I'll see If I bring a 2k 2,5k and a 2.999 points list with. No Special Characters for me and would appreciate that if any does field SC's to have modded lists to not let them count. I did find out that some SC's versus a normal list brings some imbalance to the game.

You should. The games I've played in 6th still can be counted on one hand as well, so I guess we all will suck with the rules. So what? It'll be fun!
I've played two games! And I'll still be using my foot-slogging Space Wolves with almost no missile launchers and lots of blood claws². Can I join?

I don't know the rules very well but would like to play so I'll bring my SW's anyway. But I have it easy, I only have to drive a couple of miles and don't have to pack my army for a train ride and a ride in the Midaski-Mobilteam. I'm also planning on bringing Empire, HE's and Ogres, but a lot will depend on what I get painted in time.

² I might add some IG allies though

So knowing you too have issues getting it all done is a great comfort!

I hope that a part of my dwarf army arrives at the bash, it is still with the painting service.

I'v ejust bought the remaining units for my WoC army. Not going to get them all painted but they will be undercoated at least.

i've got
10 marauders
marauder unit filler
rebase 30 marauders to 25mm
6 warriors in fc
daemon prince
chariot
chimera
3 dragon ogres
4 trolls

oh my !
The chimera is a real bitch to paint.
What with the four heads, all different. Getting a consistancy, yet all the heads different... Man... The stress!

All I can say is that marijuana is your friend and washes & dip your lover.

I'm doing SW/IG. Man i still got lots to paint. Plus, apparently the paints have changed and it is ****ing hard to get consistently the same colour as my other SW's. Stupid changes.

Empire are OK (demigryphs aren't finished but oh well), Ogres OK, HE's still a lot to do too. I still haven't got round to painting my *very white* lions... Maybe I should just bring Skaven instead but I guess others will take them and I'd like to try the new HE book.

I got 5 marauders done tonight ready to dip, 5 more tomorrow.

Even if I paint 5 men or a monster a night I'm still going to be short I think. It's the re basing 30 bear men marauders that I really don't fancy.

I've only got 1850 pts of marines done.

If you're taking missile units, take Xbow dwarfs and give them great weapons too.
If you have three warmachines, then it's just for fluff.

You only need an anvil if you're gonna use miners and want them charging crom the start.

Give one of your units the banner which gives them and units within 6" a 5+ wardsave against shooting and magic missiles.

There's a banner which gives you extra movement. And use the rune of challenge on a unit of rangers: 30 longbeard rangers with GW's with a thane with he rune of challenge is brilliant when placed 12" from an enemy.

Thanks, that was helpful!

I've now made my dwarf list as well, and packed both (embarrassingly dusty) armies into one case (it's very heavy). I still have a supplemental cardboard box containing 40K transports to go in my backpack, but that's all. Not too bad!

I had to unpack about twenty billion goblins from the case and find somewhere else to put them, which was, of course, loads of fun. I hate packing/unpacking!

Still, it's all done now.

Big units have certain advantages. One just has to see a way of cirumventing those certain advantages.

And you know the saying: The bigger the unit, the more points they cost when they flee off the table!

Anyway, my dwarfs are limited by necessity to 30 dwarfs per unit.

I think we need some set house rules for the bash.

1) Units flanked by a ranked unit lose steadfast
2) Units below 50% give up half vp
3) Units fleeing at the ned of the game are considered destroyed
4) 7th edition vp table to decide who wins
5) No TLOS

Any others? Discuss

I ccan print it up and laminate them and put one on each table so there is no confusion.

I like TLOS. But I'm willing to concede that point if my opponent doesn't.

Max 4 PD per spell: no thanks.

But we could do one other: Characters get a LO,S! roll against spells like Dwellers that affect every model in a unit. Basically, treat it like a big template that covers the whole unit.

I like the idea of a print with house-rules.
And you either play un-house-ruled or house-ruled.

Perhaps a division on the print-out:
A, B and C.

However, that's gonna get very complicated...

1) ok

3) ok / maybe half vp if the unit has the ability to rally?

5) fine with me as this point always starts some kind of discussion anyway.

It's been ages since I played anyway, so I've probably forgotten all the rules.

I don't think I've ever added up victory points in an 8th edition game anyway!
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: FR1DAY on May 12, 2013, 07:37:50 PM
I'm not sold on the 4pd per spell either.

I do agree on the +1 to hit large targets

Personelly I think if you're broken your broken at the end of the game

Soth: there is no unit strength anymore I thought. A ranked unit is as defined in the book. Tow ranks of 5 cavalry or infantry or two ranks of three MI.

The 8th cp table is, for me, one of the worst things of 8th. You either win or lose. There is no variance in terms of victory and drawing is nearly impossible.

I also like the change of MR to save against any spell damage. Should that join the list.

Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee

Nah, 4 dice max makes some spells as good as useless. But if MR2 gives a 5+ ward against those killer spells I think balance in that regard will be fine!

Remember, throwing 5+ dice makes it very likely you're taking a hit too.

Let'S not go overboard, please. 8th edition is pretty damn good with some small exceptions. I dislike playing with 2 pages of house rules, because it usually just means everyone throws their personal "and I don't like THAT bit!" in there and it ends a mess. I think the original proposals plus LO,S! against spells and MR working the way we discussed is way enough.
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee

But Magic Resistance only and not added with the regular ward save...otherwise people will hate the High Elves incredibly.

I never understood why they added it up anyway.....just Magic Resistance against magic but against all spells even the killer ones.

I used it ...as I like the witch hunter for the Empire and he gets it for free

5+ ward against magic missles isn´t that bad

But I think we should add it as stated....works against all magic damage (yes also miscasts ...HA take that Rufus!) but doesn´t stack with regular ward saves...which would also mean no 2+ ward save for Skaven Seer on Bell (no sane rat would do that anyway).

Pick terrain, throw a die for each piece, on a 6 it's magical and you randomly determine which appropriate one.

I saw the “four dice limit” thing mentioned on the HE site. This guy uses it, but only for some lores. I think it’s a good idea really, as they did mess up magic while trying to make it less powerful. Of course it does change the game substantially, especially for magic users. While helping dwarves a lot! (not saying you should use it, just general commenting)
The steadfast broken with flank charges is also a big change to the game. But I think with this added alone, 8th becomes soooooo much better.

Sad I won’t be there, especially seeing the house rules- makes warhammer look a lot more appealing to me, but I made the right choice. Violet is a bit of a pain! And I can start saving up for next year now!

So do I, actually. But only you and Ellie can really answer that. It all depends on so many different factors.

For example, when we moved into our current house, I left for Germany in the morning from one house, let my wife and the movers do all the work, and returned in the new house... Some pepole would find that inacceptable, but An didn't mind, and there were really no other options, so...

Hey, no! I got a flier. Finally. And really really want to use it. It's painted! It's nice! And yes incidentally, it flies.
Of common Rufus, you're just afraid of me beating you at 40K (after the ass-kicking you gave my Space Pups last year).  Wanna have a game? Then we can both suck at knowing the rules.

And I got to admit, I rather like the random warlord thing. Granted I'd rather have some of the powers toned down so they're really only there for adding some character to your warlord, and then making it so you can chose one (for points, perhaps). Would be much more fun. But they're not that bad as it is, it's just odd your warlord is an expert in something else every other game.

40K houserules!

1: no fliers (because I can't bring one).

2: no 'first blood' victory points, because it's ridiculous.

3: skip that randomly determined warlord power thing! I'm still annoyed about rolling one up that did absolutely nothing.

1. Hell no to that! If I scale down I scale down, no problem. I'll also leave it out as requested, maybe. But I'll be damned if I spent all that time painting the damn thing for nothing.

2. yeah, we can talk about that.

3. veto.

@ Shav: yes, yes. We all get you don't like 40K. No one will force you to play, promise!

I've decided not to bring my 40K stuff. It's too much hassle to carry it as well as the dwarfs.

Plus, I don't actually enjoy it.

I also got a little surprise coming up soon (maybe tonight, but atleast this week somewhere) so stay tuned

Well the small surprise took a little longer then I wished for, but it's done before we are actually doing the '13 bash!

It's my forlast battle report from last year against Aldaris!!
to be viewed here (http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=33259.msg818492#msg818492)

The last battle report will be a shorter one (only pictures no notes) against Little and Big Phil
Deamons + High Elves versus my Empire and Rat's Skaven. But I don't have time to do that before the Bash now (house stuff in the way... new floor coming Thursday)

Nice, albeit a little tardy. ;-)

Right, only a few days to go!
- Ogre Kingdoms: 3 leadbelchers to paint
- HE's: as ready as possible, but my white lions and ellyrian reavers will be unfinished... Oh well.
- Empire: flaggies' and greatswords' bases to do, otherwise OK. I'll field an infantry/knight/artillery army since my chicken knights won't be finished...
- SW's (and IG allies): land speeder to paint (it's in SW colours, the rest are in 13th company colours) + some bases to do

Looking good but still some work!

Who's bringing 40K, btw? SInce Rufus isn't going to bring a 40K army, will there be enough to make it worth taking it with me? I hope so, 'cause I put a lot of work in it and want to try out the new (well, to me anyway) rules.

Do you want to buy my Tallarn / Taliban Imperial guard models?
A genuine Bin Laden character as general.
Excellent camel riders as cavalry...
A walker.
A trooptransporter.
3 Forge world Tallarn weapon teams
1 Forge world Tallarn sniper team
About 40 or Taliban imperial guards (non-GW models).

Fully painted in wasted desert colours.

Fandir will bring 40K, Adam, cisse and me. At least. I seem to remember one or two others saying they'd bring stuff too. Plus there might also be club members who're up for a game, so bringing this stuff should definitely be worth it.

@Shav: thanks for the offer, but that wouldn't really fit into my force, neither model nor paint job wise!

Oh! The non-cheaty option!

...which is way better at killing masses of infantry. Both Vendetta and Valk are underpriced compared to other flyers, but "cheaty"?

The vendetta is ridiculously underpriced! It's a joke.

About the only thing that makes it look fair is the fact that most people can ally one in.

True, the vendetta is I think the cheapest way of getting three twin-linked lascannons (even if it's at BS3 only), and it's on a flier to boot.

I modelled my flier with rocket pods/missiles (magnetized) and heavy bolters in the doors. Looks cool!
I can still make it "count as" a vendetta if need be, I guess.

Good! Anyone dare to come up against my space pups with flashlight-toting allies?  :-)

Right!
I have 4 army lists:
2500 points of chaos
2999 points of chaos
2999 points of chaos (experimental list... probably, if most people play 2999 / 3000 this is the one I'll be using).
1000 points Bolt Action Wehrmacht.

But more importantly... my army will be arriving in the bestest box of them all!
Oh yes, my wife (who's a jazz singer and an artist) has made a special Nurgle box pour moi!!!

I shall see you on Friday.

Mordheim

Is Mordheim hard to learn? I've been intrigued by it for a while now, but never have found the time to play.

I'd imagine that with a few well-chosen miniatures, a warband is quickly put together from an average collection?

If you have an Empire Army (which you do), you can easily create and Mercenarie warband.
The basics of the game are like Warhammer, with a few additions to make it workable with the smaller scale and terrain.
I would say, join us in a game or two to get an impression. :smile2:

Well he must have misread then cos I definitely said Warhammer  :-P. (Ok, so this is just a pet peeve of mine, people referring to 40K as Warhammer and Warhammer as 'Fantasy'. I dunno if it's an American thing as lots of people round here do it). To me it's a little like when people call army books a codex...  ::heretic::.  :-P

Actually I think I bought a bunch of nurgle gor and ungor from ebay, which I really liked the paintjob. But think I sold some on my last purge. Maybe you thought I had more because I posted photos of every gor I painted!

I didn’t like what they did with the army, I wanted them to be more bestial and less chaos, and iirc, they made them more chaos. And I didn’t like any of the new units, and disliked the new minotaur models. Although an ambushing army always appealed to me. Did you say you do ok with them?
Title: Re: Hear ye, hear ye ! Eurobasheeeeeeeee
Post by: Siberius on May 20, 2013, 02:29:12 PM
Not in an uber competetive environment I will admit, though I face Slann Lizard armies a lot with life magic which gives me nightmares. Usually that, Empire or Dwarfs for the most part.

My 50 gors horde are just amazing, I love them. Plus bestigors hit above their stats to my mind. I was unsure about them for a long time but they usually kick butt. I think what I like about the current list is all the chaff and how cheap it is, plus all the variois uses. Lone razors, chariots, raiders and harpies. All pretty cheap and I often take a bunch of them. They just do all the fiddly stuff and let my big guys do the damage.

I will admit that I was a big lover of the old skirmish units so I miss those. I thought it really suited what beasts are supposed to be. But I semi adapted that into my new units with fillers and whatnot to give more of a rabble feel.

Main things I think make me look forward to a new book are rare choices and magic lore, maybe the new character choices too.

Did cisse use new HE?
Nah did not, I don't know why but I felt like playing Empire.

I did at least move my units in our game, in an effort to be less annoying!
I felt bad for taking so many warmachines.  :icon_sad:
Don't, we had a very fun game! You had bad luck with your war machines though. Well not that bad, just when you shot my STank. But we moved around quite a bit, once the organ guns were gone. More fun than just charging forward and hoping for the best...

I played against the new HE at the bash (using VC) and got my ass handed to me...

That enough of a review or do you want juicy details ?

I want to make a battle report on the Grudge Match so you might get a HE vs Dwarves game...the IcyPhenix is incredibly strong didn´t use the loremaster but maybe I should I never seemed to have the right spells to annoy my opponents.

My short report :

HE army : 60 spearman with general, mage (and BSB?), 40 ish Phoenix Guard, 15 Sea guard, two Icebirds and a FireMageDragon.

Mine : Shitload of zombies, skeletons, flavoured with a couple of Vampires and Necromancers, topped off with a Terrorgheist, Vargheists and some war machine hunter dire wolves (useless against his big blocks, but....)

Game started well enough, thanks to my vanguard and his movement, two of my wolf units can front and flank charge an Icebird and CRkill him.
After that, he gets his fliers in my flank, halting my advance and forcing me in protection mode.

I managed to kill the Seaguard eventually, but was unable to get enough spells off to make my army work, let alone damage his.

The Lore attribute for High Magic is however what thwarted me most, his Spearelves having a 5+ and his PG a 3+ Ward save most of the time...

I should mention I was playing an all comers list, and it will be worked on, but still, not easy to get any points from this build (Oh, his fliers were to far away from my Terrorgheist to scream them to death, as I committed him to the wrong flank. After that, it was game over.

Would love a rematch though.

Yes. Dwarfs need a new army book right now!

Though I did OK with my boring gunline list.

not when their unit champions can beat a high elf arch mage on dragon in single combat  :icon_rolleyes:
(true story, ask Novogord)
Indeed, my Longbeard Veteran (Disguised as an Scottish Dwarf) defeated an Dragon Mage on a Sundragon. He charged my unit in the back, but I challenged his mage with my Veteran. No hits, vs one wound. I'm still wondering what that little fellow said to those fancy ears.
They didn't pursue after battle, they just marched on to the elf battle line.
