So you lose because you want to...mount your guns?

I usually lose because I can't kill battleships very easily.  Seems to be a huge weakness in my chaos fleet.

Well, they are hard to kill, though you don't necessarily have to kill them. Often, just crippling them is enough to make them useless.

Totally legit imperial models. Don't know what BFG equivalent they have though.

"These models are not affiliated with Games Workshop in any way."

I can't ever seem to even get through the shields,  my luck completely abandons me.  I can kill everything else with impunity, but as soon as they target battleships, they load rubber bullets or something.

LOL.  I love that claim on their site.  They are pretty much copies of BFG imperial frigates.

Don't just shout "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!" and refuse to use ranged weapons as they are cowardly.

No its pleasure for the pleasure god.  My Emperors children fleet have no dealings with those primitive scum!

I've just gotten very scared of your boarding teams. Couldn't I just have a nice chain axe to the face please?

No :)  We need to capture live or not so live slaves!

Look on the bright side, its a better fate than what would happen if you got captured by Dark Eldar!

I have a Tau fleet and fought one battle.

They're torpedos follow people!

So do mine! If I tell then to.

(Chaos gets boarding torps as standard. )

Xeno and heretic scum. Ordinary torpedoes are more than enough for me.

But loyalist Space Marines use boarding torpedoes like crazy...

I love Tyranid torps myself.  With that little 15cm move they have a very tight turning radius - so your opponent can never discount them.

The painted ships are gorgeous.  The starfields on the Eldar bases are a nice touch.
Let them taste Reikland steel!

Oh, that's how they came painted by the previous owner, they're in a strip jar now. The guy spared no expenses, I think I've counted 3 undiluted layers.

The imperial ship is my work, though.

Tau will be difficult/expensive/take time. Unless you can find some proxies you like.
Specialist Arms forum has a nice proxy thread:

http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?topic=5345.0

After a couple of minutes in that thread, I found those:

http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=45

Full Thrust FSE ships. Some of those look very Tau to me! I am sure there are others.

On another note, I sniped a squadron of 3 Iconoclast destroyers today. So 1500 complete without having to go for points bloat!
Im happy.

Yeah, the first tau 'trade fleet' or whatever it was has a similar aesthetic. The second one by Forge World looks very different though, much more alien.

FW ships:

FW ships, and I think a 1st gen Tau ship in centre:

I like both Tau fleets. The first one looks kinda experimental and civilian, very appropriate for what it represents. The second one is much more "professional military", in line with other Tau war machine designs. Also very appropriate!

I do prefer the curved fw model aesthetics.

But those proxies match the blocky ones.

Do blocky and fw ones have different rules?

There's two Tau fleet lists out there. The Kor'Vatta fleet list (which is the blocky, more civilian-ish one, with client race allies like Kroot, Nicassar and Demiurg), and the Kor'or'Vesh fleet list (which is the Forgeworld, more professional navy-ish one).

All the rules for them (well, all the rules for BFG, period) are available online for free.

EDIT: the FW Kor'or'Vesh list also allows you to mix in Kor'Vatta ships, as long as you don't spend more points on them than on the main. So you can mix and match, and also throw in a Kroot Warsphere or a squadron of Nicassar Dhows.

Yeah, it's not bad. The Buy Now price is about the same as what I paid. I'm making rubber moulds for my eldar ships now though, so I probably won't need to buy anything. Gonna convert me some solaris/aurora cruisers, and maybe a void stalker.
