I'm not sure how practical that ball and chain is!

How good is the WHQ warrior priest as an Arch Lector! I have one myself too.

Totally. If I can achieve another one, I will convert him a little bit and he will be the second Arch Lector.
For those who don't know the magistrative structure of the Cult of Sigmar here it is:

-Grand Theogonist
-2 Arch Lectors
-18 Lectors

The rest of priests are divided within 3 orders. Most common of them is the Order of the Silver Hammer whose members are the Warrior Priests.

Yeah, here's the first canon conflict. According to WFRP 2nd edition (1K Thrones campaign), the Order of the Silver Hammer was founded after Sigmar defeated Nagash, by Wolfgart Krieger, who was a close friend of the first Emperor and his sworn sword brother. They were the first Witch Hunters, tasked by Sigmar to defend his realm against all kinds of magic and devilry.

So we have a conflict here, it seems.

So it seems...
Even so, we can argue that in 2.500 years this order has changed a little. 25 centuries are many years, and, in addition, Cult of Sigmar -and so, warrior priests- didn't exists before Sigmar itself. So, the cult could take the name of ancient orders like this and refound it, or rename tha name of its members... finally, warrior priest and witch hunters are not so different.
But, I Know I'm trying to explain something that seems a simply conflict in the Warhammer background.
Anyway, thank you for this information, Xath.

Yes, of course.

This is a Forge World model. No conversion on him.

This is the arch lector of the current war altar. I only changed his head, but I can't remember where it comes from...

On these ones, Pep use the body of a warrior priest and changed the hammer (this comes from white wolves, if I'm not wrong), flagellant head and shield from vampire counts' skeletons, for the first one. The other has the legs of bretonian soldier; torso, arms and weapon from imperial knight; and his head belongs to the greatswords sprue.

Artillery on round bases. Does that mean you'll use T9A rules to game the whole battle?
The only good thing about 7th ed heads is that they look particularly inbred and superstitious which is perfect for Stirlanders

No, we'll not. Using 9th Age rules for this game was our first idea, but we changed it some months ago (you can read our arguments about that matters here: http://thegatesofkislev.blogspot.com.es/2017/07/9a-era-u-8a-edicion-9th-age-or-8th.html ).
Anyway, round bases for warmachines it's something usual in Warhammer 8th edition, and we like it.
- It allows to put some details as barrels, cannon balls and other objects
- Indicates that the war machine can rotate 360
- Shows the specific movement rules when an enemy unit charges it.

The only war machines we don't put on round bases are the three great cannons for Kislev army, because they will be on the walls of the city. So seems more suitable not using abase fot them.

Regarding war machines...

It's finished! Well, only 6 crew for Kislev ans 6 steam tanks remains, but the most of them are already painted.

Next step: steam tanks

This project continues to astound me! That's a lot of artillery...  :eusa_clap:

I put mine on similar bases for exactly the reasons you list. 8th ed artillery melee rules very much encourage you to have a base, really. And I prefer small and neat to the big bases with spaces for crew and so on which look great but are impractical on the game battlefield.

Comon! There is artillery form Averland, Reikland, Nuln, Aldorf, Ostermark, Stirland, even Tilea... And not even one Hochland artillery ?  Would you risk the diplomatic incident?  :biggriin:

Stunning, as always!

Me too Shade. Very beautiful on the desk but impractical on the game.

Hahahaha! No way Alex, Hochland will also be on the battlefield, but using other kind of troops!

Thany you all!

I was going to make a snarky comment about missing a crewman or fifty back when you posted the machines only. I missed that chance, you guys are painting machines. 'True value lies at the intersection of quantity and quality' or so they say.  The 'war machines all the way to the horizon' shot is my favorite but the close-ups show a bunch of lovely little head swaps and conversions.

I agree on the smaller round bases for war machines. I have at times put the last crewman on there as well, can look good and allows some nice posing and when he dies the machine goes anyway.

3 kislevite cannons, 1 Urugan cannon and 6 tanks remain. Enought then?  :icon_wink:

I'm glad to read this. I've spent many hours of my free time giving life to this project for the lasts 20 months. And still a lot of work to do. So, I thank you very much this kind of appreciations.

Hi all.

Recent sociopolitical events in our country moves us away from the project for a while. But not for a long!

So, I'm currently working on some diferent units/models.

On the one hand, I just finished a unit of Ostermark outriders:

I also painted Pep's (Drakenhof) Altdorf Steamtank, but I have no pictures yet. The rest of Steam tanks (5) will be painted quite different:

And, finally, today I like to finish the banners and characters of the Altdorf army (an engineer, a captain, and the banners). I hope to show you the complete army tomorrow.
