Love the 6th ed Chaos Knights, they had capes, not over the top weapons and the champion has a lot of character!

I appreciate how you gathered all the fluff material from various sources, do you have the free pdf from black industries site that tells about the Great War Against Chaos from the perspective of Count Bernhardt of the Drakwald? It appeared on Inferno! 6 too. I cand send you the link if you need it.

I was in the process of selling my six 6th ed Chaos Knights, but looking at those painted knights, I think I want to keep mine... Although I haven't got the time to paint them...

Love the classic colour-scheme and the general feel of the conversions! The shavens heads look great - the hit of a shade is a very nice touch.

Many people don't particularly like that militia torso with the overcoat, and I can see why. In combination with these 7th edition handgunner guns and arms, they look entirely fitting. The left arms though, are some of those the lasgun-holding arms from the 40k Cadian box?

No, it comes from the handgunners sprue itself, some of them, a little bit converted to fit it correctly. The true is that wasn't easy to fins to proper arms because, as you know, the handgunners gun has the left hand fixed, only the hand!

I will try to make more decent pictures, and then you will see it better.

Next week I'll take better pictures of heros. And also some ones of Zar Alexis.

Half of this army is already painted. Now I'm currently painting a unit of 6 Sons of Ursa (demigryph knights on bears) and then only Kreml' Guard and two militia units will remain.

Yes. Sincerely, I enjoy far more playing a thematic army list than a competitive one. While I'm painting this amount of human soldiers (and chaotic ones, too), I 'm also collecting new thematic armies for the upcoming project based on the recreation of End Times battles. They will be just standard armies, about 2.500-4.000 points, but funny to collect, convert, paint and play. These includes a forest goblin army, the horde of N'kari only with deamons of Slaanesh, and the Skarsnik's night goblins. Forunately, they will be quick to paint, in comparison of imperial soldiers.
And there is also another army I 'll try to make real, one for the last End Times book. But this will be in 2020, at least!

How did you achieve the cobblestone effect on the bases?
I tried painting my pirate themed armies bases to resemble deck boards but it didn't work out too well
