Anyone make any yet? I'd like to finish up my Khorne adversaries for Warhammer Quest this month.

During December the local GW store decided that they would hold their annual Legion of Legend painting competition online.
In January we have to show a unit and a leader. So for this month I’ll have to put the finishing touches to 11 of my recently completed 27 figures.
In February we have to show 2 open entries - so that will be finishing 2 of the November vehicles and adding crew figures (although I may try to finish the final tractor).
In early March all have to be shown on a 1’x1’ display board – which I’ll be doing during Jan & Feb.

I need to get back into painting. Haven't touched a brush since August... So my January goal is a mini. One. Probably a 3d print (part of the reason I havemt been painting) I found. Its a EnD/Mordeim villager

How's everyone doing for January :icon_question:
I finished my 6 mounted crossbows, although still need to decide on a basing scheme, but for all intents and purposes, after all these years, these dudes are finally completed.
For February ... I've started finishing 20 skaven with handweapons, 1 rat ogre, 1 skaven leader, although not sure how that will all get done. Will most likely focus on finishing my metal mercenary commander for leading my 5 Order of the Gold Lion knights, a mounted warrior priest, and my 6 Knights of the Aver River. Need to go through my 28mm Perry painted WotRs figures to see fi there is any finishing touches to be done. And waiting for the appropriate moment to prime 132 of my 28mm Perry WotRs figures that I constructed last year.

I am going to try painting at least one model this month. I have started stripping the paint off some WW era Sikh (which is a Godawful chore) and will try to reconstitute one as soon as I find appropriate paints.
On top of that, I will paint one the troops that I made using the recent Frostgrave Demon kits and Fireforge Games' Northmen cavalry and infantry kits by ways of a test model.

Well, I stripped ALL of my Sikh rather than one (probably got some lung damage in the process) and painted but not based the slave overseer. Good to know I still do everything last minute and I still can't paint.

My painting on the Aver River Knights, mercenary general, and mounted warrior priest has come to a halt while did some on 5 more crossbowmen from militia sprues for my Averland army, and I added some more paint to a block of 20 skaven with hand weapons. Been distracted with a terrain project idea, a stepped pyramid for use with 40K and fantasy, maybe even Warcry and Killteam too.

A 132 primed models?! Are you nuts?!

:icon_lol: These 132 were just spray primed. The hard part was gluing them all together last summer.
And now these 132 Perry 28mm Wars of the Roses need to be painted. :icon_eek:
60 archers were primed in white ... 24 for Warwick, 24 for York, 12 for Somerset. All of those are in units of 12.
12 handgunners were also primed in white, these will make 2 units of 6 each, and will likely be painted in York, and Warwick or Edward IV colors.
24 archers were primed in gray for Salisbury, plus his 12 billmen. There were also 12 bills in gray for York, 6 bills to complete Warwick's unit, and 6 pikemen to complete a unit of mercenaries from Europe.
Beyond the newly primed figures, I already have 60 that are table top ready ... 6 men-at-arms and 6 bills for Warwick, 6 men-at-arms and 12 archers for Clifford, and 12 bills with 12 archers as Welsh or Tudor, plus the 6 pikemen as European mercenaries.
Adding the 132 primed yesterday to the 60 completed makes for 192 figures, and that's isn't even the whole project, more to do beyond. :icon_mrgreen:

Besides what is above, there are 12 bills on my gluing table that just need heads attached, and 7 archers that need 5 more friends. Plus there is a leader, bannerman, and additional archer, previously primed, yet not sure what units they will go with yet. I also have bits for 46 more men-at-arms, and 89 more archers, bills, and crossbowmen. Add 12 light cavalry, and 6 metal billmen that are hiding somewhere, and that makes a total of 186 more figures, beyond the 192 already listed above. Grand total ... 376. So far. :icon_wink:

I just picked up over 600 metal ancients for $200. Mostly Macedonians, Greeks, Persians, some from India, and a smattering of others.
Those get added to 14 painted Persian inf, 24 painted Greek mercenaries, 40 metal Macedonian inf, 48 plastic Macedonian inf, 6 metal Macedonian cav, 110 Greek Inf, 4 leftover plastic Greeks, 58 plastic Persian inf, 30 metal Persian cav, 24 plastic Persian cav, and 4 chariots, 4 light cav, plus 128 more miscellaneous metal infantry. For the record ... that is 1,100 figures for the era.
I didn't include my relatively minimal number of Romans, Celts, Germans, Dacians, and Numidians, all plastic with a few minor exceptions. Nor my over 300 metal Assyrians.

Nope. But I am going after representing as many different major nobles as possible. Got a multiplayer campaign in a day event I am planning to do for the 1st Battle of St. Albans campaign. There will be at least 12 tables, maybe more, and probably a double table for for the immediate St. Albans area. Then after that, I have plans for more campaigns like this, and more battles for historical games at conventions.

I think that's cool. The War of the Roses is one of those things I wish I knew more about but can't really be bothered to learn about as I already know so much. x.x

After 18 years of not hobbying, my first foray back included a visit to a toy soldier show where there was a 15mm game that I sat down to be part, and it was a representation of the battle of Tewksbury. The Wars of the Roses was something I'd heard of, but it really wasn't something ever reviewed in detail, and certainly not something covered in the schools I attended further back. I became curious, did some reading, have continued since, and partially because Perry came out with their 28mm Wars of the Roses plastic kit. I found a paper someone wrote on the fighting at Ferrybridge, Dittingdale, and Towton, on how these three fights were more likely all on the same day when one considers how time was viewed now and then, and I started this project for just doing some figures for Towton at first. Then it took off after that because of some friends of mine who encouraged doing a campaign for this era, like they and I do them for the Napoleonic era. I am currently using Lion Rampant rules which means in using the Late English list there needs at least 2 archer units of 12 figures each, 1 foot sergeants unit of 12 each, and 1 of foot men-at-arms of 6 each, and for each noble.

Display board done and Apatoa Pahure Pioneer Corps thread up to date so March targets met.
For this project I now have the Recovery Tank’s base and four other bases to complete – basically a total of 30 empty figure bases to populate, and a tractor to finish. Initial ideas for these are another 10 man unit, a 5 man unit and a set of HQ staff. COVID restrictions are due to be lifted a bit so might get out and start to get a life again so for April we’ll set a target of building 15 figures (and hope to do more).

I’ve built 25 figures this month so target has been met. My target for next month is to paint one figure – the reason for this is that the local GW has a painting competition and I’ve also been given a commission to do – depending on how this goes it will also be my competition entry so might not get any of my own stuff done.

With tragedy in my family I barely finished one painting this month.

So I only painted 27 of the 35 pikemen but 30 of the 20 handgunners. (Admittedly some of these had been started prior to June). My goal for july is to build the pike men to 40 and add 10 knights and a cannon.

That works, there's more that i might get distracted by. I really want to finish my lizardmen army asap, it's close-ish, i just have 150 saurus warriors, 24 cold one knights, 15 skinks, and 24 temple guard to go...lol. The skinks I can pound out in a day or two, they're pretty simple, some of the saurus are easy as well, just not the unit i am currently doing with the red and bone colour for Quetzl.

Don't know if I will get to the White Wolf Knights, but I'm finished the first unit of 20 Saurus Warriors (Quetzl sacred spawning). Got 6 of the next unit of 16 done. They're going to be Sotek sacred spawning. I'm trying to keep myself motivated along the trek of saurus warriors, since I am enjoying seeing them come together, it seems to be a good idea to keep it up right now until I get bored of painting the same models

I picked up this secondary Lizardmen army for $400 cad. So much stuff in it. I ended up just buying a couple models and I had some from a kickstarter from Last Sword Miniatures because I didn't like the released Kroxigors. But holy crap were there ever a lot of saurus (and skinks, but I can paint one of those in a few minutes) I decided to do all the sacred spawnings from the 6th book to mix it up. Once I finish Sotek, I'll have 5/8 done, with a couple of the others started. Tepok, Quetzl, Mark of the Old ones, and Tzunki are complete. Huanchi I have 5 or so done already, and the other two I'll work on later. the 9th is just for cold one riders, so that doesn't matter much, I haven't quite decided what colours to do them, but I don't want to match the unit I already did, I didn't like the look of it on the table.

August Goals;
1. Have all the command elements across my Empire regiments complete - I normally try to do a lot of chopping and changing of bits because I don't want them all to have the same default 'out of the box' bits.
2. Start getting the accessories and other bits and bobs (shortswords, pouches, water bottles etc.) assigned to various regiments - starting with my two units of Archers/Huntsmen.
Knowing my pace of work this will probably be enough! :-P

I've been trying to be steady, these last two units are kind of a slog to get through, the one i finished last night was dark blue, with orange scales on the back, and this one is black with yellow scales. Once I finish the last ten, I'll shoot a pic of all the units of Saurus with their Sacred Spawning on them. Once I'm done them, I just have the 20 skinks, 24 saurus cav, and 24 temple guard to be done what I have for this army. I have a set of three Last Sword Miniatures Salamanders en route from spain as well with their handlers. After that, I only kind of want the Saurus BSB, I already have a skink one for my Lustrian army. Then onto the current large project, my second empire army. lol

Sadly I've had a really tough few weeks at work, been too knackered to even think about any of my Warhammer stuff.
Getting over the hump now after a few days off round my birthday so hopefully will get back on the wagon soon and get some stuff finished!

Didn't set any goals for August as my mental health wavered and I went back to work this month from my 3 months of sick leave. Feeling ok and not exhausted from a busy work day, I'll set some goals for September.

I'm glad skinks are so easy to paint. Finished 26 of them tonight, thus ending my skink horde's painting. All I have left for lizardmen are 19 saurus cavalry, 24 temple guard, 2 jungle swarms, and 3 salamanders and handlers from last sword that have yet to arrive. I may set that as my september goals so i can focus on my empire for october

Although I did not get the the 4 AWI 40mm horsemen completed, I did get some done on them, and got involved in multiple hobby projects including both 28mm Brigade Games Native Americans, my 28mm Perry Wars of the Roses figure project, and even some Chinese Boxers. So over all it wasn't a bad month for me, especially when compared to July. Going to put those 4 horsemen back on target for September, plus looking forward to completing 12 Wars of the Roses figures, and see if I can push myself.

I will do my best to get those done, The Temple guard's scheme I have is fairly simple, I could probably do them in a day like I did with the skinks, the Saurus cav are the big ones that take a lot of time, but the end result has been very pleasing, so I am not disappointed that they seem to take over an hour each lol.

I overestimated my capability for the month of August... 20 Handgunners was slightly ambitious based on my schedule.
However, the painting of these is almost finished, just need some final highlights of leather and feathers. Then I need to base them all and all done.

Life is short and sometimes that by itself is enough. We spend a lot of time in this hobby planning, painting, making, and not nearly as much as we'd like nor as much gaming time probably either. I'm glad when I just make the effort whether or not I get something fully accomplished in a month. And that isn't to say there's not something great about accomplishing what I set out to do, but instead it is ok to just make progress.

I got a really nice new painting light from michael's for my birthday this weekend, It's helped reduce the back pain tremendously. Hoping I can keep the momentum, I really want to be done lizards this month, I'll be painting tonight too. Most likely some of those cav. The salamanders haven't even arrived yet, so it'll be a bit for them. If I get them done, I can start pounding out empire.

Nice, I hate when you're all set to paint something and motivation just plummets. Those Saurus cav have me like that, they take so long, and i have to break the shields off to paint them, then reglue them after. Only 14 left to finish them all though

got six more saurus cav done. It took me almost seven hours. I think I picked a too complicated paint scheme for them in comparison to my old cav I did before lol. I could get the old ones done in like twenty mins to half hour each before, but these do look nicer, I was never pleased with my neon green cold ones before.

Never done any Saurus Cav. My nephew is painting a lizard army, and believe he is working on a unit of 6. I have one saurus that I'm going to mount a human leader dude on it, and have it be the leader of a group of spearmen with lizard shields.

Painted up my last five of the 8 handlers and made a third jungle swarm from the two i already had (they're not the best in terms of base fill, like at all, but they're good enough, I have five other bases with my actual army). Just the 8 cav to go and I can start on empire.

Nah, I have a ton of Empire to start on next. Probably like 300-400 models, at least some will be fast, my main colours are red/black split for a Sylvannian theme, and all my archers and crossbowmen are going to sub in for levies for my vc army occasionally.

Managed to squeeze in 5 pistoliers before the end of the month, they were badly painted before, I just went at them to touch them up, ended up repainting the entire rider and just shading the horses, they're passable now, but i might have to go over the harnesses later on to make them look a bit better, they're not quite up to my standards

I have been cleaning models while doing phone calls for work.
This weekend I'll attempt my first 3D print a batch of Krieg Models to add to what I have out of the Kill Team box. My intention is to make use of my Kill team sprues with extra models. I was inspired by this video here.

I did a home office overhaul to have a semi permanent paint station setup to keep things moving. Over the fall and winter I'm building a basement painting room and will eventually move most of everything there when it's done. So far I have it framed and insulated. This weekend I'm running a heating duct and a two part ventilation system to pull out the fumes from the 3d printing systems. Electrical work next week and I'll enjoy drywalling it over the thanksgiving break.

Realised hydras don't have handlers in 8th, so no point painting them up unless playing 6th or 7th :unsure:

Goals for October are;
- Finish positioning on the last couple of core plastic infantry guys (I'm 90% there already);
- Get the 2nd unit of Huntsmen *finalised with accessories and heads assigned to all;
- Get my Nuln Ironsides unit finalised (paint is stripped from the newest arrivals, these now need prepping and basing), arms then to be given to all which I think will need a tiny bit of repositioning using some hot water bending to get the arms to line up properly;
- Will probably (if I get time) take another look at finalising the last few of my Manann's Blades unit too.
After all those sort of specialist units are sorted I can then make a start on assigning all the heads and extra bits and bobs to the core infantry units.
*when I say finalised, I mean they are fully cleaned, based, arms and heads assigned and other than maybe getting a couple of extra accessories added they are basically ready to be painted. These specialist units are easier to get to this stage now because things like heads and arms etc. are pretty standard or predefined i.e. the Nuln guys have Nuln heads, huntsmen all have fur cap huntsmen heads and huntsmen arms etc. so there's no need for my typically long-winded selection process! :lol:

Adding a unit of 8 Warlord 28mm Napoleonic French Chasseurs a Cheval to my list for this month. This seems manageable, and I promised myself that when sending off some French infantry for paying another person to paint them, that I'd at least start doing my French cavalry. :icon_mrgreen:
These plastic figures by Warlord seem less defined in sculpt than the Perry brothers provide. However, at the time of buying the box, these were the only plastic 28mm models available, and these light cavalry units were a mainstay of French armies across Europe during the Napoleonic era. Here's hoping they're a quick paint up. :::cheers:::

3D printing = Stalled. I'm waiting on a Ultrasonic cleaner and some additional supplies to get delivered before I start.
6 Poxwalkers are done and based but I need to add two more, so I have primed, and did a first airbrush pass on them.
2 Plague Marines are primed and first airbrush pass.
Work, ice hockey coaching, and wife's birthday weekend competed hard with the hobby stuff but the good news is I'm having an absolute blast with it all. My airbrush skills are really rusty, and I'm using a brand new Hardeer and Steenbeck brush which I'm not accustomed to. I nearly went back to my old Iwata because I know exactly where it will throw paint. This brush feels like it's blasting at an odd angle, which it's not, I'm just not used to it. Either way I'm having a lot of fun, and even got the high layer in over my lunch break. I wanted to do more today but I'm wiped out and about to get some sleep.
Plan for this week is finishing the 2 additional Poxwalkers and 2 Plague Marines. If I can fit in the time, I'll 3D print a Plague Marine Icon bearer.
Also wanted to show little painting station setup in my home studio bookcase. I really hate that light arch and plan on building my own lamp with an adjustable LCD Screen.

Modded 3D printer with flex plates to pop off models from the build plate instead of hacking at the surface with a tool.
Modded 3D printer with protective screens to protect LCD screen from accidental resin spills
Ordered 3M breathing mask, powered vent fan and hoses
made space in basement workshop to set everything up.
This weekend I add additional ventilation to basement and move the equipment to the space then the 3D printer will be kicking out prints all week.

2 Plague Marines Done, Painting 2 More Poxwalkers @50% done.
3D printing.. :icon_lol: OMG it's pandora's box. I have been postponing actually printing a model. I'm doing exposure tests, etc to calibrate my system with the Resin I'm using. Sometime this week I'll print out those Krieg!
Hobby Room.. Well that's on pause too until I can get a consultant in. We're looking at a possible staircase down to the hobby room, but it would mean getting some real pros involved, permits and such too and I have an HOA which won't be an issue at all but it's just more work than expected.

Before the snow flies, decided to base coat my empire army that was needing it, exception being the flagellants I want to convert to wolf kin if i can find 20 heads and hammers from the white wolf sprues. They should technically be in abundance somewhere you would think with not all knights being converted to white wolves. So roughly 150 models base coated

Nice, the aos zombie dragon? i kind of want to get that one as well. I have the 4th wight on a zombie dragon, and zacharias, but i haven't gotten the newer one. I managed to get six of the metal blood knights for my 6th blood dragon army.

Actually reworked my 3000 points Dark elf army to fit in 5 shades so wont need those 7 black guards that I didn't paint :-D

2 Death Guard Done
8 Poxwalkers fully painted/ready for basing
3d printed a dozen custom bases
I'm shifting gears and started work on 5 Primaris Assault Intercessors (currently cleaning mold lines). The reason being, I'm going to build a Black Templars army and already purchased the new box. Also, Harlequins are so overpowered in the new Kill Team, I don't really want to field them against my son's Death Guard. I heard Tyranids and Harlequins are a good matchup, so we can approach that later.
I'm feeling a good win with a first successful print. I did a TON of research, fixed up the models in zbrush, then built supports in Lychee slicer, calibrated my printer, heated the room, heated the resin, had all my tools lined up for cleaning and disposal. I'm very happy with how it all turned out and look forward to printing the next thing....

I'm travelling out of town the entire weekend for my Son's Ice hockey league. I'm packing Kill Team Octarius terrain, Space Marines glue, tools, etc to work on it in the hotel between games.

Only a little accomplished this month for the figure side of things. When I had to remake one of the Chasseurs do to a failure in painting, lost a bit of painting desire. Have been working on organizing figures and redoing the hobby room, even made a new shelf unit for scenery storage, and perhaps use at hobby flea markets.

I haven’t been totally idle since July, with Armies on Parade being online and at local GW stores I decided to give the City Watch a final burst and really finish them. This was just a bit of touching up of paint and adding a few tufts to bases. To make up the AoP size I added a few of my empty movement trays and repaired an old model of The Drum as a backdrop.

I’ll not be completely returning to the monthly targets but the local GW is about to start its annual Legions of Legends event so I do have some targets to work towards.
Their event requires a Unit and Leader to be done during January and two open categories during February with everything being shown on a display base mid March.
I’ll be concentrating on the Apatoa Pahure Pioneers for this as I have a number of items part built so this month I’ll be working towards finishing a unit and leader.

Reporting in. I've been working too much to get hobby stuff done.
I cleaned and prepped all my Kill Team Octarius Terrain, Cleaned and Prepped 10 Kill Team Orcs, Cleaned and prepped 5 Assault Intercessors.
Tomorrow I start painting terrain. I'd like to think I'll get all the terrain done this weekend, but I have to coach two hockey games and fix up a bunch of things in my home.
Also will kick off the 3d Print of some bases I modeled in zbrush and some black templar shoulderpads and arms (with chains on the bolt pistols and chainswords).

Haven't posted in a while. Only got 2 shades painted in november, but december has been better. 10 DE executioners down and their death hag. As the end of this year approaches, I'm not going to set any goals for this month, but paint something else as a treat. :happy:

Even though I got some paint done on my goals for december I did not finish them. But I almost completly build all the models in Death Guard Battleforce box: 3 Deathshroud Terminators (champ with magnetized options), 9 Plague Marines (2 of which special models), Plagueburst crawler (with magnetized options) and 2 out of 3 Myphitic Blight-haulers (will do the last one tomorrow).
