Blood Bowl!!!!!!
« on: August 30, 2008, 11:48:58 PM »
So I just read the Blood Bowl rulebook for the first time last night and damn, I want to play some fantasy football!!!  My question is when the hell is GW going to get off their expletives and put out a new range of teams, I've done some checking around the net and there is tons of independent support for this game.  I don't think they ever will, but in my opinion they're missing out on some business, because I think they would see some heavy sales with a new edition of the game and teams that didn't make 4th edition look modern.  Anyhow what do you all think?  Do you like the game, play it, want a new model range or am I off my rocker? :::cheers:::

Thing is, a player will only need one team. That's twelve models for each BB player. Compared to the cost of creating like 8 new BB teams and the number of people who will actually bother buying new miniatures when they already have a team/people willing to get into the game(not that many!), it probably wouldn't be worth it. Still though, it might be because of their current economic pickle. GW have often released seemingly unprofitable models before, so hopefully when the company gets back on its feet specialist games will get more attention.

When they stopped Fanatic, didn't they say they would soon start supporting the Specialist Games again and that Blood Bowl was first on the list?

I didn't care for the game.  But that's just me.

I can see this side of things, this is the same reason that they quit on mordheim, one of my all time favorite games.  I just wish GW would stop with this vein of thought, because it's what drove many of us to try to circumvent their company in the first place.  I love their product, but lets face it, I and many that I know understand that they are one of the worst game companies one can do business with.  Even their rules lawyers can't get it quite right, over a two day period our game group asked two separate employees on the hotline the same exact question (which by the way was not all that complex) and each time received answers as different as night and day.  I'm not unsympathetic, but muscle up and get your business on track or you'll fail and I'll have nothing left and may even have to go back to CCGs!!! ::heretic::

Who will ever stop at one team though?  I own 5 and would probably have more if I could readily get my hands on them.  Its one of the most actively supported games at my LGS with 2 bloodbowl leagues.  One fixed game schedule and an open association.  In many ways I feel its the perfect game to introduce people to the world of minaturte gaming.  Painting 12 or so figures is less intimidating than painting a whole army and once you have them realed in you can show them all the other wonderful things they have.

Blood Bowl is simply wonderful.  Actually I like it more than Gorkamorka, Necromunda or Mordheim.  It's just the funny atmosphere that surrounds that "sport"  In a universe where anybody is your enemy, having a good scrap against chaos or mummies in the field is actaully funny.

Its amazing how well supported the game is by players and how many people have various thing manufactured by other companies for it.  I think that GW rolled a 1 on there attempt to pick up the ball here.

Yes sir, I think so.  This game should definitely be more supported by GW.
