Ok chaps, the task is simple.
I am learning to play Mordheim for a campaign Friday evening, and have no free time before that to learn the rules of making a warband.

Therefore, I am asking my fellow forum members to create a roster for me, of 600 crowns. Or whatever it is. I know Marienburg get extra cash or something.  :-D

Models aren't a problem, I have an Empire army to pick from.  :-)

Crossbows and stuff, right?  :icon_lol:

A 1.1 million warband would be quite a sight!

Standard rules say that Marienburg get a 20% bonus on cash at the start. Usually, that's 600 gold.

I don't have my book around, but in case nobody else jumps in, I'll do a roster tonight and post it tomorrow afternoon, if you want.

I would say that could be the size of a large Empire army. :icon_lol:
I got it mixed up with Blood Bowl, ooopsie!

500 gold as standard, of course. 600 with Marienburg.  :eusa_wall:

The more the merrier, gives me a nice range of ideas to choose from.  :-)

Thats a lot of maces. perhaps they're a Press Gang looking for more unsuspecting blokes to swab the decks.

I would drop the warriors and take up swordsmen, you have to take the best common soldiers you can because if they got the lad got talent they still have their old skills.

So what - everyone will assume you have two maces on every model anyway!


If you start taking lots of swords you will have far fewer models and instantly become rubbish. You could get more marksmen instead, but don't drop below thirteen models or you become much easier to rout.

Marksmen are great. I run a Reiklander band with 2 groups of Marksmen with longbows. BS 4 to start, and I got the +1 BS upgrade for both groups as the first advance. Those guys give Elves the finger when it comes to shooting.  :-D

I seldon see any close combat bands use the sneak skill...hiding till you are close enough to go toe to toe. Only guy in our group doing this was the skaven player.

Otherwise Bs 5 is awesome especially if one of those should become a hero....first thing to grant him should be his own pair of duell pistols.

Have they not 'corrected' the broken "all maces" tactic.

I'm playing a game or two tonight, with someone new to the game and I haven't told him about it, and I haven't built my warband woith all maces either ........

When does the "all maces" tactic become obsolete?

Spears?  Wot?
My group got started with the optional Critical Hit Tables a few years ago and we love our swords and axes.  Clubs are still good, but we pay with a mix of weapons.  Although the halberd still gets little love...

I was borrowing someone else's warband.
Had a couple of crossbows, two youngbloods, a champion, couple of other heroes, two swordsmen and a wizard.

Second game, the wizard was swapped for a blunderbuss.
