Latest Recruits
« on: April 21, 2020, 07:29:10 PM »
So what have you guys picked up of late for your armies?

I found a sealed Regiment box from 6th Ed I think, the command models are metal upgrade parts.  Also, a unit of monopose Reiksguard knights, and metal White Wolf knights.  Super happy for the older metal models. I was around way back then, but too into 40K and missed out.

What have y'all found?

I purchased an Averland handgunner, believe it's from a Mordheim warband.  Plus I bought a pair of older metal halberdiers. And a pair of two much older swordsmen with what looks to be like panther shields.

Not THAT recent, but I got a sweet new Gotrek models to carve through the enemy. Comes complete with dead Skaven for the base. I recently dug out a box of stuff I was holding for a buddy, and when I let him know he didn't want it and just sold it to me for cheap. So I need to find the spare bits to fix everything up, but that'll be 2 Demigriffs and some knights freshly added to the Empire.

I've picked up some of the Undead warbands for Underworlds. I haven't picked up anything for my Empire recently, but I do think I'll add the Krakeneater Gargant to my pirates.

Not part of an army project, but I received some animals - living and undead - and a Halfling from Bears Head Minis. Very nice sculpts and very prompt delivery of a kickstart. A rare case where I received the miniatures exactly the month they were originally promised!

As a very happy customer I'll promote a bit:

I concur with the quality and service of Bears Head Miniatures.

Pledged in one kickstarter and picked up these figures last year ...

Well, not WFB, but with the new version of 40k coming out, I picked up a copy of First Strike and No Know fear for kicks. I was not interested in the new 40k as I have sentimental attachment to the older marines, and wasn't crazy about what I saw in the Primaris... but I have to be honest, after assembling and putting a quick layer of paint on them, they are pretty refreshing to work on.

I guess GW was right to go in that direction. But I still argue making bigger models makes the table top smaller. But they did the same thing to Adeptus Titanicus so I guess thats the way things are going now.

Not buying 9th tho!

Probably the wizard wagon and demigryphs just over 7 years ago from GW Florence.

For any of my armies?  Pre-2003 Boar Boys that I bought off ebay about 3 months ago.  For Empire?  Geez, it's been quite a while since I bought something for them.  But there's plenty still to paint...

Just got my hands on some used Huntsmen

They're easily salvageable though and I'm looking forward to getting them stripped down, pulled to bits and rebuilt into a second unit for my Wissenlanders!

I got the latest Necromunda Book: House of Iron, the Orlock Cards and the miniatures.

I pre-ordered them 15 minutes after they came on-line, two weeks later they hadn't shipped.
I dropped in a mail, to hear the status of my order and they replied: "The item you ordered is out of stock."
Wait, what!? They received an very angry mail of me! And no reply.
Then suddenly, they confirmed shipment and it has arrived a few days ago. And the order was complete. But still no reply from them on my angry mail.

On the other hand, I could lay my hands on a replica Ass cannons from the Chaos Dwarfs! I'm really looking forward to paint that one :-)

I donít understand those cannons.

Like I do. But I donít like them all that much other than the laugh factor.

I've got 2 units of them now; one has been built as Wulfhart's hunters and this new set is just going to have a generic scouts/rangers sort of vibe.

You need to get them made! Fantastic models!
