Hello,
Sure have been some time since I last posted anything on this forum. I have still been painting during the absence. However I have mostly painted mordheim miniatures since we are playing mainly mordheim nowadays.
Thought I could show you my DoW army project.
Working on the next 7 of these
(https://i.imgur.com/ynpHt5N.jpg)
Little Borgio
(https://i.imgur.com/U9ZnwxC.jpg)
Have another 5 of these:

And my handgunners, have 18 more im batchpainting.

I have a lot of more units to paint..let's keep it going! :::cheers:::
-
Classics! Everyone loves a Dogs of War army, and these look great.

Already looking wonderful! :icon_biggrin: :eusa_clap:
And welcome back! :::cheers:::

That makes my heart happy to hear. Great looking stuff!
-
Any change on pictures of the mordheim figures?
And since when does DoW have handgunners? I thought they only had crossbowmen?
Is Borgio your paymaster?
But lovely work non the less. I really like those old school figures!

No here is my paymaster sir :)

Regarding the handgunners, I think that's true. I'm mainly doing a themed army I think, sort of😅
Sure here is my middenheimers:

My fancypancy marienburgers:

And my pirates (not GW I kno ::heretic::)

Excellent. :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
-
Even the ogre is fancypancy! Nice work!

Love the Mordheim warbands.
The Middenheimers are my favourite. Some nice kitbashing & very effective greenstuff work there! :-)

Thank you sir. Im playing them mostly, but they are not the best warband out there😅

I love that old ogre :::cheers:::

I love those warbands!
All those classic miniatures in their are a joy
I'm colleting the old marienburger miniatures at the moment and I hope that, once they are finished, they looks a fancy pancy as yours :-)
And is that midaski the mean his chariot with paychest?
-
And is that midaski the mean his chariot with paychest?
No - he's not handsome enough to be me ... ... .. .. (Or did you mean Midas? - which he isn't anyway.)

Thank you sir! Im sure you will paint them superbly!
Its that chariot yes but I changed the mini to a citadel c46 Citizen "master smith". I'm gonna use the other two minis to an Arabian warband!
-
I'm gonna use the other two minis to an Arabian warband!
You can see what I did with my Midas in my avatar (well with one of them - another one leads my pirates crew in LotHS)
Yadoshi would make a wonderful wizard on a flying carpet.
I have the carpet and the figure, but haven't built it yet.
-
Great job
-
Dogs of War! My favorite models of any GW line, looking great!
-
I agree entirely with that sentiment. :::cheers:::
-

No - he's not handsome enough to be me ... ... .. .. (Or did you mean Midas? - which he isn't anyway.)
:biggriin:
I was just asking if it was his chariot.
I wasn't saying that he is very handsome :-P

And so the mighty ducks(flying V) is done!

-
Yes! They are ready for war! :icon_mrgreen: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
-
That is some really lovely work! When finished this army will look magnificent!
-
Another brilliant DOW army I'm seeing this month! There has to be a secret society holding vast numbers of DOW miniatures somwhere out there. And I am not a member :icon_sad:!

That settles it. I am getting a sofa.
How long does it take before the minis spawn underneath :engel:?
Srsly though looks like you have most of the Regiments of Renown. Can't wait to see them painted!
-
Excellent army. I envy your Estalian minis! I've been using The Assault Group's Renaissance range (and a handful of Warlord's War of Religion stuff) for my Estalians. They're good but just very slightly too small if you look closely!
-
Loving this army. Huzzah!
Keep posting stuff as go on!

So to keep the motivation going, here is my DoW army to this date:

So painted the first 5 pirazzos lost legion. Can't say I enjoyed them to much..Probably mostly because of the pikes that makes lining them up very hard.

-
Its true I keep them under the sofa :engel::
Well that is something else then the thing I find under the sofa. Somehow their are a lot of books from the little one.
I saw your army on Facebook, the video gives it a whole other feeling.
Are you going to include some crossbowmen?
-
Thank you! Nice that you saw the video. Yes will include about 30 marksmen of mirigliano .
-
Unit grows to 20. Like that there seem to be some encouraging(shouting) going on within the unit.
Pikes up!

One of my favourite DoW units and one that I actually own too. You are doing them justice, very nice green!
One quick question, any particular reason why are you using a blue background for the unit photos? I think it messes up your otherwise very good pics by adding a lot of blue tint. Using a more neutral background (grey or brown) would help with the light balance a lot.
Sorry in advance if that sounds 'nosy'!

Im not to familiar with photography in general so I just put them on the background I have with the smal and cheap photobox :) Think it only came with blue, white, black, yellow and maybe a green one as well..

That's fair, I am not an expert by any standard either. Was just wondering about the slightly blue tint and it's something I've noticed with my own miniature pics.
Looking forward to more of your work

So finished 7 more pirazzo. Will take a break from them now. Have 27 painted.

Wow! Really nice 😺

Excellent! :icon_biggrin: :::cheers:::

Really nicely done!

Love the Bronzino - better job by far than mine. BTW, I managed to get two by kitbashing up a second to look similar, with Perry plastics turned into the crew.

Thank you all sirs

I thought it might look booring at first but now I think they look very much like mercenaries for hire. Fit in to what ever other army who can pay for them.
-
A little break from DoW. A friend 3D printed this tray for me so I thought I gather all middenheimers in one photo. Maybe someone here will like it.

Awesome stuff! Some of my favorite models from my favorite GW game.
-
Thanks all. Far to kind :::cheers:::
Back to DoW. Command group is painted. Have a total of 13 painted now. 7 more to paint and 10 more to find :?

Those Estalians are very nice indeed. Are they skirmishers?
I am a bit demoralised though, as I just held up one of my WIP figures in front of the image of yours. Apparently I do not get better with practice!

So the unit is now 17. Waiting for 3 more minis to make it 20 and at a later stage 30. Also waiting for bucklers.

I've been thinking about getting a 3d printer so i can make helmets like that for my Conquistador army

Ever used or heard of 'blue stuff'?
If not I'd suggest taking a look, it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than a 3d printer unless you plan on using a printer for other things...
I actually use 2-part resin in mine rather than green stuff, still tweaking the process a bit but getting decent results.
-
So maybe this is the last mini for the year. I put some paint on my second Galloper Gun.
Still loads to paint for 2021.

Ah I was already wondering where the gentleman painting that Estalian army would have a forum or blog to follow. Saw the pictures in Facebook and youre army is a great feature to marvel at.
Well painted and executed.
I will follow it here from now on a little closer.
Because I can.
-
I have that figure, and I use him as an Estalian Inquisitor.
Noticing the red and white cloak, sort like Santa Claus. :icon_wink:

Painted som Braganza. Did not do them the traditional way. Instead I went for green and bronze to match the rest of the army. Will also add things to the shields once the unit is complete.

Awesome! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::

Sweet! Braganza's besiegers are one of my favourite units of all time when it comes to models and you did them justice. I hope we get to see Dogs of War in the new old world game.

Those tones on the horses are awesome

I ordered them from a guy running grimforge miniatures.

Its the realm of Battle boards. Which I have added 3d printed cobblestone and roads on as well as bit gravel and then paint them :)
Is painting this good even legal?
:-P I'm just a decent painter my friend. :icon_redface:

I got a commission done for 3 old miniatures for my Estalian army. This guy paints on a level that is just insane (now my confidence as a painter got a beating). These guys will fit very well into the army:

Believe I might have the figure with his rapier and dagger prepared and in the air.
-
Oh wow. Lots and lots to zoom into there. Nice golden yellows. Overall, I think your commission painter focuses on smooth highlights, plus a couple of extra fine details. Those are his/her secret. Probably quite time consuming, and that's what we pay for in commissions.

This guy paints on a level that is just insane (now my confidence as a painter got a beating).
Well he did exquisitely paint the Imperial Noble's doublet in NMM as if it were armor so you can always fall back on that flaw ;)
Though I see from a quick google image search this is a common problem from that mini.
-
Dang !
How much did he charge for 3 models?
PS: Do you think i could do commission jobs if i ever lose my actual job lol
-
Two of them look like they have cunning plans
-
Long time again. Mostly been playing mordheim and enjoying a nice (covid-free-ish) summer here in sweden.
I'm done with my estalian swordmen unit, 20man strong and heavy.

Painted a Dogs Of War General last night:
-
I've got that general, like it alot, and have mostly painted him. I made the helmet and horse head tassels a light yellow to match my Knights of the Golden Lion unit cloak brown with a brown hide cloak, that has lion like hair on its cuffs and bottom.
You've done him up well with this paint job, congrats! :icon_cool: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
-
Awesome model, awesome paint job!
-
nice :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Thank you guys.
Something different for you tonight, the start of my arabian warband for mordheim (and in fact two models are for DoW range). Hope you enjoy it.

Those look great! :icon_biggrin: :eusa_clap: :::cheers:::
Reminds me of some such figures I recently bought off a certain someone on ebay, and although I have them primed, they need some paint. :icon_lol:
Plus there's those little arab looking hobbits that I have as well, produced by Westfalia. :icon_cool:
-
I love Al Muktars origin story. The classmates who bullied him had very important fathers who pressured his teachers into continuing the bullying to happen.
ALSO; if a group of sword wielding maniacs ask you if you are a god; say 'Yes'
-
Very nice! The handgun addition is a very nice touch.
-
Cool!
Could you boost your photography a bit? Those minis look great, but I feel we don't get to see the full details of the paintjob.

I'm not the best at photography, I just use my phone and a photobox. Any tips?
-
Don't use the camera flash (my guess is you are not using it atm.)
Adjust your camera settings. Decrease the aperture. Phones do this via a program that simulates aperture, I don't know what your phone calls it. Mine reads "EV", and starts with 0.0. I usually go to -1.2...-1.5.
When you have decreased the aperture, taking photos takes a bit longer (you need a tripod or at least brace the phone on a solid surface), but the camera also catches the colours better.
You might need a little bit more light with a smaller aperture. I use the light provided by the led strip in my lightbox (possibly the same Chinese one you are using), and a secondary 4000K frontal light from roughly a meter away.
Best photos of miniatures usually have a neutral greyish-brown background. I use black and think it's better than white, but that's just my taste. White should do as well.
Try different settings, lights and background. Compare. When you see the effects of each adjustment, you will start to see where you need to go. A couple of years back I took some two hours to test everything, and it greatly improved the quality of photos I could take. And that was even before I bought the cheap lightbox, which again improved the quality of photos.
Hope this helps.

So the Estalian themed army has grown so took some new photos. All GW miniatures with smal conversions when needed to tie it together.

So much awesomeness. If they ever make another Dogs of War army book, they could use these units.

Thank you all very much. I have been away for awhile but will start painting again.
Until then here is a video if you would like to watch it when waiting :) : https://www.instagram.com/tv/CWWAuDhgtPV/?utm_medium=copy_link
