Greatswords and the general's leadership
rufus sparkfire:
There's a lot in the rulebook about non-stubborn characters in stubborn units. It's fairly clear that the unit can either use the character's modified leadership or its own unmodified.
However, the rulebook also tells us that a unit within 12" of the general can use his leadership for all purposes - their leadership is considered to be equal to his.
So, if a unit of greatswords is within 12" of the general (perhaps he is even leading the unit) are they then leadership 9 stubborn? Or is the situation the same as for a normal character leading the unit?
What if I have a battle standard bearer with the banner of Sigismund - could I have a leadership 9 stubborn unit of swordsmen as well?
George:
Without a rulebook in front of me my interpretation would be...
A greatsword unit could test on their leadership of 8 or the general's modified leadership.
As for stubborn swordsmen I think the same ruling would apply. My query would be can u test on the BSB's leadership of 8. A unit of 35 stubborn swordsmen with an 8 leadersjip would be pretty awesome. (Might just have to try that one for myself!)
Albrecht von Hinkel:
35 spearmen with Griffon Banner is awesome...

As far as I know, you can test on the BSB's leadership since he is also stubborn.
Too bad about the general though...
How about if the general joins the unit with the banner of Sigismund? Can he then claim to be stubborn as well?
squig87:
i believe so. As the generall has joined the unit, then he is therefor a part of the unit. The wording of the banner is "the unit is stubborn"s thus allowing the generals leadership to be used in conjunction with the banner- i think. And as you can use the generals leadership and the BSB re-roll failed leadership tests, you have one kick-ass unit!!!
