Option for additional crew
« on: May 13, 2009, 03:48:44 AM »
I think this is a simple rule, which will help differentiate our crew from that of Dwarfs.

Dwarven infantry (a lot of them) are stubborn, or unwilling to move easily. This is then reflected in their war machine crew.
Empire infantry instead rely on numbers to win their combats. Why would this not also be reflected in our war machine crew?

Hows about allowing us to add up to an extra 2 crewmen per war machine for 5pts each.

I think that GW would approve of that idea too! They could start selling 2 extra-crewman blister packs which would cost 15€ each  :icon_mrgreen:

Yeah I mean, 3 guys to service a helblaster isn't that much.

In WW1 a heavy machine gun had like 8 crewmen!

I agree with that, didnt the army list from CiM have that option?

I would still give them the engineer upgrade too though.

(As an aside the CiM army list were fantastic, balanced and fluffy - way better than the actual empire book)
We go to gain a little patch of ground that hath in it no profit but the name.

Yeah, he stole it from CiM. Doesn't make the idea less good though. I think it's a great idea.

Lock this sucker!

Do we have a master designer yet btw?

What's a master designer?

But beyond that, I agree, an option for extra artillery men at 5 points each could be good, probably a maximum of two more.  I also like the idea of having an engineer as an upgrade as well, but not at what an engineer costs in the current army book.

Rufus Sparkfire. When it comes to army lists.

I wouldn't let him design clothes if my life depended on it, though...

Very nice idea.

Yeah, our war machine crew deserves to get something "extra". Extra crew is a beginning, but I'd like to have them have pistols as well. They wouldn't be serving with a war machine if they don't like gunpowder now would they?

War machine crews in reality weren't usually armed either, though it would be interesting...
But, yeah. Warlord's idea is pure genius.  :icon_cool:

Or perhaps all of them should be mounted on the robo-horse-terminator.

=Powder Monkey=(+10 pts)
It acts as a T3 crewman for the purpose of hits from shooting and magic.  On the start of close combat it causes d6 S4 AP hits on the enemy before attacks.

An excellent idea! :eusa_clap: The only problem would be that our war-machines would be too powerful (is that a problem?! :-P ), because we'd only had to shoot at 3 crewmen where others would shoot 5! Plus the special rule 'extra crewman' already stands for that...

I think that GW would approve of that idea too! They could start selling 2 extra-crewman blister packs which would cost 15€ each  :icon_mrgreen:

I'm not sure it would be worth it. You increase the frontage of the enemies fighting you from 5 to 7 (and lets face it most flyers have 6 models when similiar based to our infantry).

So I mean you're increasing the amount of attacks you're going to suffer for at best 2 additional ws3 str3 attacks. I doubt it would be worth it unless each crewman was 5pts max.
The greatest form of control which can go on forever until it is exposed is a tyranny you can't see, touch and taste (unlike totalitarian Govts). When you sit in a prison cell but can't see the bars, because people don't rebel against not being free when they think they're are.
