How to Post Images

Here's the easiest way, if you have the pictures on your hard drive:
OPTION #1
Go to www.photobucket.com and make an account for yourself.
Photobucket's interface is fairly self-explanatory, just follow the instructions and upload your pictures to your account.
When you view your account, you will notice that each picture has three copyable links under it.
Copy the link which has "IMG" tags in brackets before and behind it. You should get something like this:
--- Code: ---[IMG]www.photobucket.com/account/picture.jpg[/IMG]
--- End code ---
Paste this into your post and presto!
OPTION #2
If the image is not on your hard drive, right-click it and select "properties". This will give you a small window where you can copy the image's URL path from, which looks like a web address (in fact, it is a web address). Then copy this address and paste it into your post, adding the IMG tags (with square brackets, as in the example above) manually.
You can also use the "Insert Image" button in the post editor; it's the second button from the left in the bottom row of buttons, which has an icon of a framed image on it, it looks like this:
Clicking that button in the editor will automatically create the IMG tags, and you can insert the image's URL there.
NOTE: Many images hosted on the internet resist the second method, which is called "deep linking" or "hot linking". This is because whoever's webpage hosts the image will be accessed every time someone views it here, thus using up said host's bandwidth. It's better to download the image, put it on your hard drive, and then upload it to your photobucket account (go on, make an account, you know you want to ;)).
CALVIN'S NOTE: You can also use Warhammer-Empire's Gallery to store your images online.

i FEEL LIKE A DUMMY, I CAN NOT GET MY PHOTOS ON LINE, EXPLAIN IT IN THE MOST SIMPLE OF TERMS LEAVING OUT NOTHING THAT YOU WOULD AUTOMATICALLY EXPECT ME TO KNOW, I AM COMPUTER CHALLENGED. STEVEB
CaptScott:
Hey steveb, I hope this helps
- Copy the images from your camera to your computer
- if you want to shrink your photos for easy viewing (and to make the file size smaller) the easiest method is to open the program 'paint', which most computers have. Open the image (from the file menu), and then in the 'image' menu select the stretch/skew option. Change the horizontal and vertical % from 100 to something smaller (like 15%). Save
- go to www.photobucket.com
- click the 'join now' option
- follow the prompts (i.e give username, password, email, and enter the unique code shown)
- after you've clicked 'I accept' after entering your details, you should be taken to 'my album'. (there are three tabs near the top of the web page: home, my album, and find stuff. 'My Album' should be selected.
- on this screen (to the middle right} you should see three long blank boxes with a 'browse' button next to them. Click a 'browse' button and from the screen shown find the image on your computer. Click 'open'
- you will then be taken back to the 'my album' screen and the name of your image should be written in the blank box next to the browse button you just clicked.
- click the 'upload' button just under these boxes
- the image should now be uploaded, and will display near the bottom of the web page (you can repeat this process for multiple images)
- underneath the image will be a series of codes and information, one of which will be 'IMG code'. Just click once where it says IMG code (click on 'IMG code' itself). The computer will then automatically copy what you need into its memory.
- now post your message at warhammer-empire. In the reply screen where you want the picture to be click your right mouse button and a small menu will appear. Click 'paste'. The IMG code ( a line of text) should then be copied to the screen and will look something like the code Calvin showed in his post, beginning and ending with IMG in square brackets.
- now save your reply and view your message, the picture should be displayed
(if you need any more help send me a message if you like, and I will see what I can do. By the way to send a personal message click on CaptScott, and select 'send this member a message')

I went to photobucket, registered. they emailed me back with my id and password when I tried to get back on to do photos they would not let me saying I had incorrect password, even though it is the one that they confirmed by emailing back to me. I emailed them with the problem, their response was to tell me again that my password is what I was using but still they wouldnt take it. It is some what upsetting to someone who did not grow up with computers. Is there another way to post? I have pictures on my hard drive but dont seem to be able to send them anywhere. HELP steveb
Soju:
So they emailed you the temporary password... and you did log in via the link provided in the email?
Just follow the email's instruction to the word.
I think the photobucket account from the start allow you to choose the password of your choosing; but it could also be sending you a registration code that will be something like, '3edta42' or something totally random.
Follow the link provided (aka the hyperlink) and log in there.
