The Order of the Stout Shield
« on: February 06, 2013, 02:18:40 PM »
As the 4th son of a minor lord of Barak Varr, Bronig stood to inherit nothing, and so when the opportunity come for him to represent clan Stoutshield in the war against Marienburg, he jumped on the it.  He proved himself as a leader of men during the war.  After the war Bronig decided to stay in the Empire, and many dwarves and other displaced fighters and mercenaries who he had led or who had heard of him rallied to his banner and thus the Order of the Stout Shield was formed.

Bronig is held in high regard during war times for his skills in handling troops both on and off the battlefield, but when peace time comes, and power plays become increasingly political, his heritage makes him an undesirable.  Luckily there are always rebellions, beastmen incursions and other petty disputes in the empire which means that battle hardened mercenaries are always in need.

Winter is usually a hard time for mercenary companies as very rarely a war is fought with rulers prefering to tighten their belts during the unforgiving season, and so the news of the impending election in Middenland came as a welcome surprise for the Order.

The Order of the Stout Shield: A stout purse deflects danger

Current Leadership:
Shield Captain: Bronig Stoutshield - Dwarf Warlord

Dour and grim, Turiel lost much in the war with Marienburg and habors much hatred for men.

An incredibly eccentric Alchemist who sports bright yellow robes, a huge pointed, wide brimmed hat, and has a long crooked nose.

Artillerist : Sylvia Pech - Captain

I like it!

Well done. Do they have their own heraldry?
Curse you and your ability to stay within the lines.
