Topic: 1000 points list need some advice

Hello guys,

First sorry about mine language English is not mine native tongue so sorry about the grammatical errors.

I started a few weeks ago to play warhammer again and choose the mighty Empire. Before i played Dwarfs but I didnt want to play the same race again so i switched sides. I made a list but I really need some advice, im a newb but really enjoys the game. Keep in mind I mostly play against Vampire Counts and need some tips to defeat him. With this list I played 4 games and lost 3 against the VC.

The list I made so far:

Heroes
Wizzard Level 2, lore of Light, Dispel scroll.

Core
10 Crossbow + champion
20 Halberds Full command
8 Inner Circle Knights Full command, standard of Discipline

Special
3 Demigryph Knigts Full command, steel standard
Great Cannon

So is there something wrong with this list or need I to add something? If you guys got some tips to a newbie Empire player would be awesome.

I personally would take the champion out the crossbow unit.  And find a way to squeeze a cannon in there while using handgunners instead.  You can still take advantage of detachments with a 1000 points imo.  Or maybe i'm thinking of 1500 lol

I dont really like the handgunners. And the crossbows kill easily his chaff, because the long range. When im done painting I will play around the 1500 - 1600 poins. Then I will use 40 halberds, 2 cannons, 15 ICK and more. When the list is finished, I will post it here.

This list worked ok for me. 

35 - Halb, FC
10- Free Company
10 - Handgunners

11 - knights
1 - captain

1 - battle wizard lvl 2
1 - great cannon

= 1000 pts.

I'm thinking about taking out 5 Free Company (they're only good on the first counter charge anyway).  And maybe the captain for another cannon or something
