Marching column
« on: March 30, 2024, 04:54:15 PM »
So marching column triples your movement and you use 1/4 (I think I don't have the rule book in front of me) of your movement to redress your ranks. Infantry are movent four so triple movement is 12 inches. 1/4 of 12 is 3. Can you march forward 9 inches in marching column and then redress your ranks to combat formation?

Redress takes up half your movement.

Lol, I just happened to have that page open on my phone when i clicked on this thread.

I quickly read it, looks like you can go 6" while matching and then redress.

Can only wheel when marching, no other manoeuvres.

Yep.
You can still declare charges but not complete them. The Drilled special rule lets you reform after declaring charges but before moving the charge.

This is right in the rulebook in multiple parts, it even specifies the exact part of the movement phase when this happens.

Aside from "haha I don't actually have to make these suicidal charges" shenanigans, marching column seems very difficult to use effectively UNLESS you can use drilled to reform the ranks before a charge.

You can't redress the ranks in the turn you march, as wheeling is the only maneuver you can perform while marching.
