Woohoo!  That’s great news!  Though I’ll admit I was kind of hoping if we were last that it meant we were getting special treatment. And I’m sad to see wood elves, my other faction, are not even mentioned yet!

I feel its probably too early for us, as I feel they probably don't understand how bad our infantry is yet.

A collection of new models is intriguing, as well as returning metals.

Getting Nuln Oil ready sounds like we get an even more gunline focused list.... wonderful. The way all Empire players love to play.... not.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited though to see what they put together.

I think you are reading too much into the Nuln Oil.   :biggriin:

To me, that is very good news. I don’t think that they will use the Arcane Journals to balance the first edition anyway. And why? It’s based on the core rules. Balancing should be done by slight adjustments later. I want to see more interesting variants, and maybe even one or two completely new units to the roster.

It might be that one of those new lists will perform better. But I will regard it as an additional bonus.

What new sculpts and units do you expect zo see?

Expect to see?
- At least 1 character on a demigryph.
- New knights (this might be a stretch)
- New Cannon / Mortar

Hope to see?
- New state troops
- Heavily armoured Veteran infantry
- Mounted Witch Hunter

I am hoping more for older sculpts from 5th and 6th ed.

Did anyone notice the last line in the road map article?

"when you’ll be able to hitch up your War Wagons and see some of the new and returning Empire kits".

Return of the War Wagon?!

I hope they bring back the Teutogen Guard for a limited time. These are the models I never could acquire over ebay or rather didn't want to because of the insane prices.

I have no hopes for the new models though. Even if they will look good, they will probably be out of scale (too tall/large) in comparison to older models. (The new Bretonnian foot knights for example look absolutely awful in my opinion, so there is that too.)

If they re-release the old War Wagon, then this will ruin the entire recast market for that model on ebay.  :-D
At least I'm pretty sure that they must be recasts, as there are a lot beeing sold in recent months/years and prices already dropped because of that.

But it would certainly be nice to get rules for that model again after 24 years (!).

YES. Lets hope they bring back infantry kits that don't have 'monkey' faces and oddly posed arms

What stuff was covered in KF iconography? I assume those kits will have been touched up.

This is speculative, but if we accept that the AJs are generally paired, and that we are paired with WoC, then it would seem likely that one of our lists of infamy may be Marienberg focused.

I think that was mostly just the big monsters and stuff though?

I'm very keen to see what kind of new kits we get for Empire. Currently no army seems like its gotten that much new stuff, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up for more then 2, maybe 3 kits. I want to believe I'm wrong and we'll get mountains!

I WANT TO BELIEVE SCULLY!

How many factions have actually received new rank and file models?  Any besides Bretonnia with their foot knights?

I’m not holding my breath we will get any. But I agree some heavy armor infantry would be incredible.

I'd love a Middenland army of Infamy but Marienburg would be a cool second. Bring back the landship, Mannan's Blades, and let Marienburg forces take up to 33% mercenaries. Make a unit called pirate mercenary crew that you can convert from the free company bits, and bring back the old Sartosa pirate captain model as a special character. They could basically be free company with pistols/blunderbusses. Give them a standard bearer with a jolly roger banner that causes fear. Lots of cool ideas for Marienburg.

Get your nuln oil ready? I'd honestly rather get my 'empire-infantry-aren't-shit' oil ready!

The empire gunline is fine. One of the better empire lists, actually. And we can already make a good mounted list, so we don't need a new mounted specific  army of infamy IMO.

Let's assume we get a Nuln based one. Fine. Our best bet for the other is a Middenland/Middenheim focused one, in my opinion.
In the old Storm of Chaos campaign in the early 2000's, the middenland list had infantry that were better fighters/cheaoer, but lost the detachment rule. As the detachment rule is straight garbage, this would be a complete positive.

I'd be happy to see the war wagons come back (maybe as a lower tech middenland alternative to the steam tank?), and the old (4th/5th edition) empire character on pegasus. http://www.sodemons.com/rhmarauder/mb15pegasus/index.htm That pegasus looked a lot more awesome than the gelt pegasus.

The thing I'm looking forward to most with our arcane journal is actually getting play an empire army with...empire army special rules. Our current army, alone out of all armies, has none, which is probably why it feels so bland to play.

At my most recent tournament dwarf players outnumbered empire players 3:1, even though I think the empire tournament level lists are slightly better.

My secret wish : we get three armies of infamy, one for each of the three emperors.

If they don’t do something to make warrior priests better I’m going to be very sad.  Either special rules, options or magic items.

The recent Chaos reveals have shown that GW is pushing heavily into the monster mash meta.
This is going to push Empire further towards a gunline as even our monsters (Griffon/Steam Tank) will not be able to have a chance.

They also reckon 2 or 3 cannon shots will kill a dragon...
