Inner Circle Knights are done! May or may not be running as one big unit...

(sorry for photo quality, I'll get a better one done... after I've finished my BSB)

Great job.
I'd use them as a big unit. They'd crush smaller units underfoot

Thanks! It's tempting because our knights are fairly cheap and I don't have a STank or big unit of Flagellants (yet..?)

Army shoot is a great idea. I've not had them all out at the same time yet so it'll be interesting when I do... I've got an orange paint now so I need to go back and highlight most of my reds again. Also want to varnish everything before I venture out onto the battlefield...

Been a bit quiet in here but I've been working hard I promise. Some more photos to take but here's another eBay win - my second hero on a griffon. This one I decided to try to re-pose a little and even managed to hide some gaps and alterations with green stuff and paint. Happy with how he came out. The rider is a total kitbash:

And both of them together!

Photos aren't great, I'll do some with the proper camera when I've got the time to do a proper photo shoot of the whole army :D

Good stuff, although why not buy some different model for the second griffon? I always try to avoid having two same models, if it is not a rank and file trooper. And now with 3D prints it became even easier ;)

Looking good! Also the slight re-angling of head & claws help to individualize the Griffons, even if they're the same model. You could also hue their pelts differently, even add spots to one.

Normally I'd agree completely - but I really, really like this particular griffon model. Probably nostalgia but whatevs :D

I thought long and hard about this - should have mentioned this in the first post really. Since Solland separatists are going to find it really hard to come by griffons, they had to resort to paying someone to steal an egg. The egg contained two yolks (IRL in birds it's about 1 in 20 apparently) which both survived (IRL this is close to 1 in 200) -- maybe a bit of magic involved, too. So they're twin Griffons! Lucky us! Just need to think of names for them. And actually write up my army 'story'. So much to do...

Finished up a few more character models... always good to have options! :)

Battle Standard Bearer - I've been using purple for accent colours for a while and I've decided to add it to some upcoming units a little more prominently: Pfieldorf is (was) the Capital of Solland and so these units will specifically be from there - the Core Knights and Halberdiers mainly. So it's also incorporated into the BSB. Model was originally the Ricco's Republican Guard standard bearer.

Hero with Dragon Bow - This is a 3D print model that I've added the bow and shield to. Reasonably happy with it, maybe should have made the bow out of green stuff...

Engineer - The 'Leonardo di Miragliano' model from the old Helblaster Volley Gun crew. I decided that he was going to be an old guy with a grenade launcher, standing on some grenades, with an Excel spreadsheet on his... er... tablet. If you've seen the old farmer with the shed of munitions in the film "Hot Fuzz", it's the Empire's version of him. Every cannon crew includes a Tilean to translate his instructions for the other two crew...

We have a Steam Tank! Completed in 1712 just in time to help defeat the Orc invasion, "Eldred" sadly broke down on the way to Elector Count Eldred's final showdown with Gorbad Ironclaw. Fast forward a few hundred years and this was a barn find, restored by our provincial Engineer and brought into service with the Solland insurgents.

Another auction-snipe from eBay, stripped and painted yellow. The bush at the back is actually hiding a pole to support the back, because both the back wheels were snapped off and have tiny contact points to fix back on.

I’m really loving your project. Nice work!  The BSB from Ricco’s is my favorite.

The steak tank looks so cheerful. I have to say you have done a great job on it. Really evocative.

Thank you! I definitely had a few "OMG it's going to look awful" moments but she got there in the end!

Much less cheerful, is the Witch Hunter on Pegasus. This guy is made from SO MANY BITS! The rider's head and body are Reaper Miniatures' "Abram Duskwalker" if anyone's wondering.

Really pleased with this one. The cape is part original metal, into plastic Empire Battle Wizard parts, into green stuff. And the 'landing and dispensing some justice' pose came out better than I could have hoped too :D

Back to the State Troops, next up are the Halberdiers! Definitely going to take them up to 30 models soon...

I've been using purple accents for a while and decided to make it one of the main colours for these guys, so went with a purple/yellow for the shields and banner, along with the little Pfieldorf 'castle' that I used on the BSB.

Nice chunky block of the Empire finest State Troop sculpts. Also this explains where all the free company halberds went.

The witch hunter is nifty, good posing on the horse! I do think the rider has to be booked for animal abuse though if he discharges his weapons like that.

I find the old Militia box set halberd to be a great substitute and very versatile piece. Most of my Bretonian knights are armed with 'de-bladed' ones

Been ages since I've done an update on here - there are TONS of new models painted so I'll just share a few of the latest. I've just finished off a couple of kitbashed cavalry models - a Captain of Pfieldorf (Purple and Blue to match up with the accents on the Halberdiers and Great Weapon Knights) plus a kitbashed Champion for the Solland Knights. The whole unit is made up of leftover and curated spares, some of the models were in terrible condition when I got them!

Just finished painting my Foot Knights - obviously no Reiksguard in the Old World timeline, so these will likely end up being either Greatsword or Teutogen Guard proxies.

Anyway, the story is they're the Sudengard or Sollenguard (not decided yet) - a part of the Knightly Order of the Shining Sword, originally created to search for the lost Runefang and based in the Imperial South ever since.

Includes the Marauder Foot Knights!

As well as the "Heroic Fighter of the Known World, Manfred:

Two models left to finish and then I'm out until the release :(
