Are shields a total waste on halberdiers? I really like how they look.

Halberds don't get any benefit from shields in close combat, which is where they would be the most useful.

Not worth the extra points, unfortunately.

The only way that shields are worth it on Halberdiers is if your enemy are packing a lot of str 3 shooting. So if you regularly face High Elves then you might be able to make it worth while. Otherwise, not so much.
