That wasn't what I meant by that. I would probably have stuck to eighth, but change of manager at my local GW, (which is where I mostly play, as it's just up the road, And I made a lot of friends there) stopped 8th, but ran an escalation AoS campaign.
I'd tried it already, but not much more than trying to play in the old world with the new rules. For the campaign, we had random battleplans and time of war rules. Which may not mean a lot, and because we had random amount of models added to armies each week, it should have been unbalance, but it worked pretty well, a lot of close games, because you can win the scenario with a lower strength force if you go for the objective.
Over the course of that campaign I appreciated how little rules referencing was needed, and, now I enjoy it more than just ever did 8th. Not since me and my mate from school played 3rd and 4th without points or army lists, and just put stuff down and played.
The local scene has changed from an overly competitive to a more chilled out roll dice and play vibe, which is more appealing to me.
But also held back on the enthusiasm because there are people who are hostile to anyone enjoying Age of Sigmar, and I wanted to avoid getting into that kind of discussion, so I wish I hadn't even written this paragraph.
