Topic: 2000 pt list for quick tourney

Hi all.

Just getting back into WFB after several years off--this will be my first set of battles in 8th edition. I'm putting together a 2000 point list for a tourney with friends (wood elves, orcs and goblins, and lizards). No changes to the list between battles. Orcs will have a souped-up leader (probably a troop killer)--they always do. Elves and lizards are harder to predict. Scenarios will be random and decided on the day of the tourney.

Should have added a bit more information:

We are all using models that we have from out previous playing days (i.e., we don't have most of the new stuff that came out with 8th ed.).
We try to build balanced "realistic" armies that would fit in with the fluff.
We try to avoid cheese, but do like to have a surprise or two per battle for our opponents.

Consider dropping the Captain as your general for a WP. Or make your WH the general (he has ld 8 too) and use the free points for something else, like upgrading your Wizard to lvl 2 - it is well worth the points. Note that your Wizard cannot have 2 Dispel Scrolls.

Handgunners are generally assumed to be overcosted in this edition. Consider dropping them for other things, like perhaps the Ruby Ring of Ruin for the WH. 

I would also find the points for a musician on the pistoliers. They are best at hit-and-run tactics, so you would like to make sure they actually rally.

I would take the knights over the GS.

The enchanted shield is on the bsb. Not the wh.

You can modify your posts, you know. 

I am not sure if you know that, in the current edition, it is possible (apart from Wizards) to take magical items without having the option of the mundane equivalent (like a shield). So, the WH could take the ES. I am not saying he should, but if he would, you can use the Dragonhelm with a mundane shield for the BSB.   Be aware that the Ruby Ring of Ruin will have the KB special rule (but not the Sniper special rule) against the primary quarry of the WH. A Brace of Pistols is indeed so mandatory for a WH, that I forgot to mention it. 
There is not much point in giving the ME Light Armour (unless you have 1 pt to spare).
16 Archers in one unit is a bit superfluous. Better to have 10 as a Wizard Bunker and another 5 as chaff.
