Half Hammer
« on: April 05, 2021, 09:40:09 PM »
So I saw this youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caLmKo8kBYE and the idea of playing Warhammer at half scale (15mm models and everything having half its range etc) interesting as it'll let me play on the kitchen table.   Has anybody else thought about this or have any experience?

Photobucket has now re-destroyed my pictures, so the first half of my collected works thread is no longer working again. To see my website version of the campaign thread, with fully functioning pictures, please go to https://bigsmallworlds.com/

Yes, I've got a whole army of 15mm fantasy figures (although I haven't painted or used them yet), and Luke's recent video is familiar. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone on this forum showing off their version of downscaled Warhammer/KoW, years ago.

There are many ways to go about with this. Some halve everything and reduce the 20mm base size to 1cm x 1cm. Some just put more minis on the base and enjoy the increased feeling of mass and the realistic proportions of terrain and the huge size of the monsters, but otherwise play in normal game scale.

My idea is to put everything at half size so that I can play on a 3 foot by 2 foot table.   I think it'll have 2 benefits in that it'll make it easier to find space to place and then if I want to play really big games a 6 foot by 4 foot table would be put in place instead of a 12 x 8 foot table.

Though I also like the idea of basing up 4 models on each base to get the army feel.
