It isn't hard to paint miniatures in that way, it's just time consuming.
The ornamental twirls are easier to accomplish than it looks. Just take an extra hour per miniature to paint these ornaments on flat spaces. It is a sham (and it helps to disguise all the little flaws on the minis).
Take a small brush, give some water in the paint (only some drops to apply the paint a lot easier in those thin lines) and always paint the lines in a lighter colour than the base colour (light blue on dark blue for example).
It's just a trick (so I'm a cheater
)...
There is still much work to do, until my engineer army is completed.
I managed to finish a second unit of ten handgunners.
At the end of May there is my first tournament this year. 2750 Points (more than I thought).
I had to enlarge my first intended army with some old models out of my collection.
I took some old knights of the blazing sun (I've played Averland in the past) and reworked them a little bit. I plan to use them in two units with five knights each.
Here's a pic of my knights of the blazing sun - the two units are finished allready (I've painted them really quick, mostly with drybrushing):
My engineer knights are nearly completed (just the skin of the horses isn't finished yet).
Here are some pics:
And here is a pic of my army so far (you can't see much, though. I'll try to take a better picture later):
