Warlord Games
« on: February 13, 2009, 04:21:50 PM »
First these guys released some excellent Celt figures that I'm using for Flagellants and now they show off Pike and Shot mockups

http://www.warlordgames.co.uk/?p=1383

I want these, badly... They look fantastic and will surely fit into my Empire army as DoW, Handgunners or Pistolliers/Outriders

Infantry looks good, but I don't really like those cavalrymen. A matter of personal preference i guess - maybe if they were shown on their horses?

My only issue is the amount in each box. I would prefer more pike than shot.

Then again I could make that gunline I always wanted  :engel:

Having seen Warlord romans next to high elves and empire I prefer the warlord models. The only issue at the time was the guy was using them as chaos warriors. Just didn't feel right.

*Loud thud as Mathi falls from the chair and drops to the floor...

Those are... Me want...

Well, when they appear on some swedish sites I have under observation, I am so going to paint some up as the re-enactment society I am part of!

And don´t mention them I will make for my Empire army.

Bloody shame the pike is dead as the do-do in the Warhammer world. Would be wrong to field them awesome pikemens as mere spears.... Still, I could do it on occasion.

But those 24 musketeers will replace my present handgunners pretty pronto! :icon_mrgreen:

And I do not have too look further for my Hakkaapellitii.

Yeah, hard to beat. I just placed an order for a bunch of their Celts earlier in the week. It helps that we've got a decent exchange rate right now, as well. Even paying the postage to the US it was still a deal.

Is that better or worse than the full plate light armour the GW models have?

You paint the armour from the knee to the foot as high riding boots( the easier thing in the world, and I can tell you it looks perfectly fine once done) and they only have breastplates and thigh armour. More like heavy armour than light armour, but I think it's more true to the rules than no armour=> light armour.

Anyway, it's a matter of taste. I don't like them as pistoliers, some people will love them as pistoliers.

They are carrying what can be said to be leather buff coats, of the kind the swedish cavalry used as main armour. And those leather coats clearly quality was light armour, protecting against sabrecuts and such.

No, they are perfect Innerwolf.

Oh, you are right Mathi, I forgot about buffcoats. They were too pansy for me to remember them XD Spanish cavalry was shitty, but at least they wore proper breastplates until the end of the 30Y war.

I like the handgunners and pikes.  What is the price for the box?

It is too bad they are 24 and 12.

The pistoliers look stupid.  I suppose if the horses looked okay then it would be alright.

I didn't see the 24 musket/12 pike thing. That sucks. I would have bought the box otherwise.

I intend to purchase around £100 worth of boxes, so estimating 5 boxes if the prices are like their romans/celts stuff. So I'll have 60 pikemen and 120 handgunners.

I need to find out what to do with so many spare ranged.

Give them to me?

The hats look stupid. Probably historically correct, but I don't like them. The rest is very well done.

Stupid? Those hats are awesome. Hats are awesome, period. And I take such a hat any day than some fopish renaissance barret!

They are also historically correct, and as they are historically correct, they are per definition awesome. I have spoken!
