The only thing I can think of to say is that for the most part I find you the most clear minded and logical of all people here despite the fact I disagree with many of your viewpoints. You are capable of analyzing what happened and forming a more objective opinion to help yourself get over it. I've no doubt that in a relatively short time you'll be glad that it's finally happened, if it was truly never meant to be you will see it. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I could not see the picture, so I just assume that it is a drop-dead gorgeous Belgian blonde with a box of chocolates. I would prefer the chocolates right now (they are from Belgium, after all).

Sorry, Gnu. I'm not really sure what to say to make you feel better, this is a thing that sorts itself out with good honest self reflection and time. I'm sure you'll give it the proper consideration and you'll be over it when the time is right (you can't force it unfortunately, it only makes it worse from my experience). I'm one of those folks that thinks this stuff happens for a reason, so if that helps you out then keep that in mind. If you need to vent feel free to do so on here or hit me up via PM.

manual defrosting with a knife = punctured evaporator coil.

I used greenstuff on the punctures. Hopefully it has enough refrigerant in it to cool again.

I'm also not sure if it is poisonous or not...

and all our food will be wasted.

Let no one say this hobby isn't good for anything. If the Landlady realizes there's a puncture, tell her you wrestled a tiger into the fridge to protect your pregnant fiancee. Then launch into an eloquent complaint about the tiger infestation of your flat. You might even get damages!

On a more serious note: if it comes to the worst, fridges aren't that expensive if you don't pick a top of the range model, especially if you can get a good used one. Good luck with that problem anyway!

yeh i found some on gumtree for 40 quid.

I'm just worried she will call out an engineer, bill us for that, then buy a new one, or not as cheap one, and bill us for that too.
Where as she should just buy the 40 quid one from gumtree!
