A friend of mine died unexpectedly today. He posted pictures of his adorable daughter around noon, and was dead hours later. I feel bad for his family. He was a great guy.

Well, life isn't fair, but it's not fair for everybody, so that makes it fair. I'm just very sad for his family. Stupid car accident in one second and BAM, little girl grows up without her daddy. That's lame.

We lost my grandpa unexpectedly as well, he was plowing his driveway, and someone was driving to fast and hit him breaking his tractor in two.  So, I got a glimpse of what they may be going through.

No amount of settlement or life insurance can help in a situation like that.

It's easier for both parties if you make a move early on. I don't have any regrets.

As an aside, I'm fine with having female friends, but I don't put up with any of the behavior that's usually associated with the friendzone. EG, if she starts complaining about her boyfriend I'll throw her off balance by sticking up for him.

Some of my mates have interesting wives/partners that are fun to chat with but I couldn't imagine hanging out with them outside a group dinner or similar.
No no, too many problems can arise with friends of the opposite sex, I'll stick to blokes for mates. We are far more forgiving of our little idiosyncracies, like a miniatures hobby for instance, and we don't judge or scrutinise each others apparel or physionomy anywhere near as much.
