Today I have my "first" (the very first was 26 years ago) renal dialysis. For the second time I have to wait for a transplant kidney.

Good luck with the transplant. That reminds me that I should join the marrow transplant list (as a donor), but I am a little scare of it.

Tried to 3D print a miniature in a so-called Fab lab. Nice peoples, cool stuff, but alas the miniature printing didn't work out.

So my girlfriend is now an ex-Girlfriend. Unfortunately I feel you never get used to the first few days after being dumped. Nevertheless it's the start of a New Year so I'd better not sit and mope around in self pity for too long.

So my dad just came home from the hospital. Earlier today he found my grandmother in the dark in her apartment unconscious after suffering a massive stroke. There is apparently no hope that she will come back. The worst part is however that my oldest brother left for Dallas on Sunday for a 2 month long course. So far we have been unable to contact him.

Thanks guys.

He called back not long after I posted here and arrived back home earlier today. We visited the hospital yesterday to say our goodbyes and not long after we left she slept in with my father holding her hand. So it is over now. It is at least some comfort to know she didn't suffer. The doctor said her stroke knocked her out more or less instantly.

Argh! I cannot stream movies on my TV - my notebook doesn't have HDMI, and Grundig doesn't support Flash Player and offer an app for Amazon Prime yet. The customer service has just told me many people have been complaining about the same problem, but Grundig isn't planning to change that in the near future.

If I had bought a Sony, Samsung or LG, it would be no problem.

Is there another solution than 'buy a new TV set or a new notebook'?

You could buy an Android device that you plug into the HDMI slot that lets you use it like a smart TV so you would be able to run flash through the device. It's cheaper than buying a new TV.

No, VGA is pure video I'm afraid (and kinda wasted on modern TVs anyway because of low resolution).

Select "VGA" and see one option (you can get a vga-hdmi cable).

The other option is to use soudn from your computer and watch the movie on the tv. I do this because I can normally put the computer behind the tv, and still have a great sound. (at least with old computer). This doesnt work too well if you have a decent tv

or tv room.

You could get an adapter like this but its still going to be two cables, but be a "little" less messy.

Not really, 'modern' VGA cables can handle 2048×1536 @60Hz.

Patsy is right. Juan as well. A VGA adapter with audio cable is the answer. Happy thought: Guess who's able to stream movies on her TV now and has just watched World War Z (good movie BTW).

That sucks. Some people just can't seem to catch a break. You should probably make sure to support him in some way just because mood does factor into the physical condition when facing potential death.

Last year I've lost my closest friend to this shit. I'll call him today and me and my GF will donate blood at the beginning of next week.
