Places to buy terrain - add them/rate them...
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:26:11 PM »
I feel like we have had threads like this in the past but they are probably quite out of date and/or hard to find so here is a new one. What I would love is for people to add places they have bought terrain or know of with some handy info. I will give an example using GW of the kind of entries I would really like to see to help people sift through what is worth looking at for their needs. Thanks for anything you put in here. I am looking at getting a few things myself and could use the help.

Grocery Store

http://www.google.com

What they sell:  Cereal Cardboard Boxes
Price Range:  Extremely Low
How it comes:  In a Box, Unassembled
Quality & Detail:  Low to Medium
Where are they:  Everywhere

Seriously though, this is an excellent thread idea.  I really love the aesthetic of the Tabletop-World buildings.  They have that secluded rustic feel to them; unfortunately, with an army to yet assemble, I cannot justify the price at this time.  Are there any medium quality buildings out there with a similar aesthetic?

What they sell: Buildings, Accessories
Price Range: Mid-Expensive
How it comes: Unassembled & Unpainted
Quality & Detail: Very High
Material: Resin
Where are they: Germany (I think)

Don't know how you guys added pictures, but Stronghold has some first-class stuff. I've only ordered a few smaller things so far, since I don't have a table of my own, but should I get one I'll probably buy me a village... Also, they are very friendly and nice!

I picked up a set of the Barricades from Stronghold about a decade ago, they are really nice. Can't remember where I got those.

Surprised no-one has mentioned 4Ground yet.

What they sell:   Whole host of 28mm scale buildings
Price Range:        mid to high
How it comes:     Unassembled but basically Painted
Quality & Detail:  Pretty Reasonable
Material:             Laser Cut MDF board
Where are they:  UK

http://www.4ground.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=340
is their Fabled Realms page which has a not very well disguised aim of Fantasy Imperial buildings

and with damaged buildings that are for some place called Mordheimanburg

Then there are a whole host of other 28mm scale 'historical' periods with stuff that might be useful

and the 'piece de resistance' for a mere £200

and they have Japanese and American Frontier cabins and wooden outposts too - just browse.

yes those buildings are awesome, but the ruins are quite expensive for what you get. Post has been modified :)

I think the tabletop ones really are the best but they are a bit small compared to the average gw human.
The tabletop workshop stuff is really good for the price. The stuff's plastic and comes with detailed interiors. The quality is good, not tabletop world stuff, but holds up well. Also, perry does some stuff, I'll do a proper post when I get home if no one beats me to it.

Just a note. I have never bought terrain from them, but my local game store has a bunch, including the river, which actually is kind of a nice alternative to building your own, if like me, you are intimidated by such a project.
