Title: Adventure time! - update 13 May 2024

In this topic I will post various minis that don't fit my WFB Empire. Randomness, no main theme, just some models that I like. I want to take a break from Karl Franz and company, but that does not mean I have finished my imperial log. First up: stormcast eternals paladins.

Q: Why they don't have the "backpacks"?
A: Because I don't play the game and I don't like the way they look.

Games Workshop  :happy: It's a model from the Garrek's Reavers warband for Warhammer Underworlds. I only removed the Khorne signs.

Test knights, one for the living and one for the undead. I would really appreciate some feedback, especially on the black knight. Did I overdo the aging effects? Isn't he a bit too dark? The coats of arms are simple, but the future models might have more complex designs.

I like both.  The only suggestion is to perhaps lighten the bone color, yet not overly so.  If you don't, it still works for me. :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

Clicked on link, disappointed with lack of Finn & Jake.

Not overdone at all, you nailed it. There's a great tone that ties them all together and marks them as undead, but it's really cool that the more we look at the figures, the more of a "visual backstory" emerges.

The Black Knights of Bretonnia are awesome! I particularly like the aged&raged caparisons where some of the original heraldry is still visible. Reminds us of the splendid knights they once were.

These are the new plastic black knight/hex wraiths. I have removed the horse armour and added bretonnian bits.

I was not sure about the OLS, but it turned out ok. Guess you should try out new things more often.

Wow, quite the set of knights there!

I see chaos horses, Bretonian shields, Sigmarite shoulder pads, maybe upper bodies too, can't tell on the legs for sure maybe chaos.

The idea was simple, to paint the same mini in 3 different styles: retro, my basic table top and something more complex. Need to work on my photo skills and setup.

100% GW. These are foot chaos marauder heads with chaos space marine/space wolf/stromcast plumes. The wings for the captain and the paladin are made from some imperial guard eagle decoration.

It's very simple. Just replace the heads with foot marauder heads. Cut away the horns and spikes, and add plumes. For the knights use plastic chaos knights (but not from the start collecting set). Cut and file away all the chaos bits. Use green stuff to fill the gaps. The shields are from Bretonnian men at arms, The shoulders are from stormcasts. Cut away the chaos maces/hammers/axes and use liberator hammer heads. Super easy.

Did you have to build it in the store or did they let you take the sprue home. We have to build in store but they’re a bit cagey about whether it’s Company policy or just the manager wanting to keep us in store. The staff do hover around and offer advice as the models don’t come with instructions so I suppose it is one way of interacting and helping newer customers.

Thankfully GW plastic glue doesn’t seem to be very good as the models come apart at home quite easily, one after being left for a week.

Nicely done figure as usual, is he just the one-off or are we to see a full unit later?

Yes, it is the free mini of the month for June. As for the whole unit, I do not have any plans. However, you can expect the free tyranid sometime later this month.

^ I know. Sometimes i think the price is justified when you consider the detail in the sculpts. Meanwhile Airfix is still using molds from the 60's which are showing their age

No, she was not hard to paint. It is a definitely a good idea not to glue the model. It is way easier to paint specific parts separately.

The general rule is "You have to cut out the parts from the sprue in store". There is no obligation to glue it or anything. However, once I did manage to get a full sprue home though.

Yes, this are conversions. The bows and quivers are from WFB/TOW goblins. The hats are sculpetd. Some of the troopers have been cut and glued to make variants.

I don't get the motivation for them to have made Crypt Guard models. Its just ghouls with weapons. Surely easy hand swap conversions is all anyone needs to do.

That said, I love what you have done with the base there.

This is really cool! There's something in your greenskin painting style that really speaks to me. It's probably the darker skin colour and the darker red, both with good highlights.

These are the current clan rats with blades from dark elf corsairs and some other random knives. The heads are from hobgrot slittaz but I have used putty to sculpt the hoods.
