Here is my 2000pt. army.  It will be going up against VC and OK.  I know Master Engineers are nigh useless, but I want to try and fit the fluff.

Royal Nuln Home Guard

-20th Nuln Handgun Regiment (10) - 80pts.
-5 handgun detach. - 40pts.

-9th Verena Templars (5) - 123pts.
--musician, flank of halberds

--2 cannons, 1 morter, on far flank of army

-11th Nuln Dragoons (5) - 112pts.
--marksman w/ repeater pistol, outside flank of knights

rare

-2nd Nuln Advanced Artillery Battery - 125
--helblaster, positioned with other artillery

-19th Dwarven levy of Nuln (15) - 165pts.
--shields, heavy armor, full command, on far flank protecting artillery

total: 2000pts.

Are you using the artillary train of Nuln variation list? If so Cannons and Mortars become core choices whilst Greatswords and Pistoliers become special.
Just thought you might like to know as it may be a way of making the list more Nuln-fluff orientated.

Well, this army list is based off the vanilla rules.  I'm not using the artillery train, because while I do have enough regular core choices to support the cannons and mortar, the knights would become a rare choice, forcing me to either drop them, the dwarfs, or the helblaster, none of which I really want to do.

No big grievances with the list.  But just for fluffiness, free company detachments would probably not be a good choice for Nuln.  Usually the city-states have no difficulty fielding regulars.  But, that's nothing crucial really, just a thought.

Well,...I've gotta keep the free company, for now at least, seeing as I have no other infantry models, and am low on money.  Also, I'm thinking about dropping the FC detachments down to 7 each, then boost my celestial wizard to level 2, and then give my EC the biting blade (I need a magic weapon to help deal with my friend's new banshee and spirit hosts :cry: )

Dropping the free company detachments to 7 is a bit risky-detachments tend to be high-priority targets for enemy shooting and magic, due to the boost in combat resolution they provide. And once they are below unit strength 5, they can't do much anymore.

Actually, I don't really have to worry about shooting as much as most Empire players probably do.  My one friend plays VC, and has no shooting whatsoever, and my other friend plays OK and has limited shooting, and at most would only have one rank denied by a flank anyways.
